Weeks after the release of a congressional report on sexual misconduct allegations against Gaetz, the former U.S. representative told the Tampa Bay Times he’s “starting to think about running for governor” in 2026. Chief among Gaetz’s stated policy concerns? The insurance crisis. “I have a compelling vision for the state,” Gaetz said. “I understand how to fix the insurance problem, and it’s not to hand the keys to the state over to the insurance industry. LOL! The dems are dreaming up stuff. This guy graduated from my high school two years after me (never heard of him until he became a political figure) and I can’t explain how he became the name that just got voted for. I will be shocked if he becomes the name on the ticket in 2026. My hope is Bondi will decide to come back and run. But she probably is better off as the Attorney General. Will be interesting who ends up leading the ticket in 26. But Gaetz is laughable imo!
Is he going to want those allegations of sex crimes found conclusive in court, in order to better attract Trumppublican voters?
I’m sure you know this but for those who don’t - Matt’s father, Don, is rich and was the President of the Florida Senate back in the day (Don just ran again and is going back to the Senate). It’s not as if Matt’s name just appeared out of nowhere years ago. It’s also notable that you are mocking Dems for discussing a potential candidate whom Trump himself nominated to be the chief law enforcement official of the United States.

I have heard that and know both are despised up in the area. Which is why I said what I did. The people I know are strong conservatives like me. Many (Red Neck Riviera/LA Lower Alabama/Red as it gets). And I don’t know one of them the likes a Gaetz. But somehow…
Hmmm. These people all "hate" Gaetz. But they elected him 5 times, and his dad innumerable times. They're also "strong conservatives" -just like you!- but you all voted a sexual assaulting criminal for president. I'm sensing a possible disconnect between self-identification and, well, reality.
I'm not sure why you feel it is laughable. Trump loves him and he had the support of many Republicans including those on this board. He's pretty popular in his district. If Trump comes out in support of him then there is no reason to think that he won't win
I find this hard to believe. Don Gaetz has easily won every election, whether as a member of your School Board, the Superintendent, or the Florida Senate.
There are a bunch of Republicans that are also in line to run. I would expect Florida AG Ashley Moody to be one of them.
If he runs Gaetz will be the Roy Moore of Florida although unlike Moore he will probably go down in the Republican primary rather than in the general election.
Cool. I'm sure she has some great ideas for expanding the plastic surgery industry in Florida. She clearly has a LOT of experience in this department. LOL! Imagine spending all that money to "improve" your looks only to realize that no matter how much money you spend, you'll still be uglier than your mother in law and your inbred husband would rather bang her.
