Finally, we’re getting a balanced serving of articles in too hot.
    Appreciate you Bill.
It used to be 99% liberals posting articles and suffocating anyone who would dare challenge their views.
It’s been a breath of fresh air.

Both "Kammie" and "Joey" are brighter and better educated than most of those questioning their mental abilities. Odd how that works and I wonder what the motivation could possibly be?

Boils down to a few things:
    • General malaise about the cost of goods and desire for a simplistic explanation and solution. We saw the same backlash in other democratic nations.
    • Far more effective right wing talking points. Democrats are extremely stupid campaigners since Obama. When I worked GOP campaigns in college and immediately after, it was a running joke. When I volunteered for Democratic campaigns, the veterans in charge pretty much ignored warnings.
Screaming into the void that higher prices were a result of the pandemic and resulting supply disruptions won’t persuade voters, even if it’s true. Offering complex solutions bores the average voter. “I will fix it,” when you’re already angry with the current Administration is historically a favorable argument, unfortunately, even if he walked it back after the election.

Fresh air from a sewer of low fact-based right wing extreme source. Funny. Do a little research of rational based sources to find that in every developed country with free elections the incumbents lost due to the world wide inflation since Covid.

Enough dems that would have made a difference stayed home. Apparently they didn’t think it was important enough to vote.
    Big question is why?

The dems lost as soon as Biden didn’t declare himself a one term president. I think everyone can agree they’re also on the losing side of identity politics which upset moderates, economic factors especially on low and middle income people due to rising costs, and immigration bigly. I think they maybe overcome some of that with Biden deciding early he was a one term president but so it goes.

bottom line- and this has been a problem since Obama left - the party had no leadership and shit messaging. Until they fix that just about anyone will beat them.

That's not accurate at all. Democrats didn't "stay home."

Trump increased Latino votes by about 14 points, and Black votes by about 10 points. It's probable that many or most of those voters aren't registered either way, so the reality is that Trump pulled more swing votes, particularly from those two demographics. And overall voting was down from 2020, so what happened is more like each party lost voters, but Trump swung a great deal to him. (For God only knows what foolish reasons.)

It's strange to see this "not important enough to vote" narrative consistently pushed.

The stats I saw that listed registered democrats vs those that voted said so.

If those are not correct then I’m wrong.

Why is it strange? I know people who despise Trump but didn’t bother to vote. Now they are on Facebook regularly crying about Trump being elected. When I ask them why they didn’t vote they ignore my question. Hell, I voted for Trump in 16 and 20 but didn’t this time around. The democrats have screwed themselves. It’s all on them.

Why was such a terrible man able to get those Latinos and blacks to vote for him?

I stand by my comments until someone can show me differently.

I didn't see that. Perhaps I'm wrong - can you produce those stats?

    Your anecdotal acquaintances aren't revelatory.

It's strange that people seem to want to "blame" Democrat voters for a perceived apathy. Again, that's not necessarily correct. What happened is he won over conned a large amount of swing voters.

Probably because, like anyone who voted for him, they were conned into thinking he was good for the economy. Or they were motivated by his lies about immigration. Or influenced by his divisive hate-message of "She's for THEM." And, of course, they had no problem voting for an un-American criminal.

    Same here.

Shockingly whether its true or not in reality, not many people take too kindly at being labelled, looked down on or belittled for who they plan to vote for.

If the name of the game is to get more voters to join you, its not the best strategy to begin with nasty rhetoric and an "Im smarter than you" attitude.

The economy\inflation was the main item mentioned in polls. Dems accurately showed the economy has improved and inflation is down.
But there are a lot of individuals still struggling and wanted a change. it's not an easy fix for a large segment in our country (for another thread). However the US economy should have an asterisk for our massive deficit. Same for the incoming admin. I don't get why this doesn't get more focus.

But imo, the main issue was Harris was an awful candidate. She did poorly in the 2020 dem primary and had some of the worst approval ratings ever as VP. Dems blew it, or specifically Biden blew it when he stayed for a second term and then forcing the dem's hand with Harris.

I've read that, and it certainly doesn't prove your point. If anything it proves mine by referencing those demographics who shifted to Trump.

To be fair, it does reference one group who didn't "come out" to vote for KH : Arab Americans.

They sure followed through on their displeasure with Biden failing to stop the Israeli war crimes in Gaza. Astounding that they don't recognize how much worse Trump will be for them. Also weird how Biden is held to expectations by voters, but with Trump it's just like "so you lied and failed with everything the first time? No problem, we believe you now!"

    So it is....

It mentioned democrats staying home. That’s my main point. If I can find the article with the numbers I’ll post. Numbers that show enough stayed home and didn’t vote, that would have elected Kamala.

I think it's a combination of some Dems/progressives staying home and a bit of a shift towards Trump by certain groups. Overall there were more than 2 million fewer votes in 2024 than 2020, so some people clearly stayed home compared to 4 years ago. Trump's total increased by about 3 million votes, so there was clearly a shift towards Trump.

As for why? Issues like Gaza, inflation, immigration and the late nominee change hurt the Dems, but the primary reason is that there are a lot of really dumb Americans out there. A man like Trump shouldn't be winning elections anywhere. There is something seriously wrong with any country that elects such a man.

    If you can find it.

I think the reality is that a lot of people believed Trump's laughable crap : that immigrants are hurting them, and that Biden is responsible for inflation. And that "concept of a plan" Donny would be able to fix those false issues.

And of course probably some people believed his hate-messaging that KH was all about favoring transsexuals. And some were probably racist or misogynistic.

I don't buy the : "KH was such a bad candidate that everyone stayed home" argument for a second though. It would have taken a transformative hero to break through the combination of Trump's lies and voter ignorance. I don't think one currently exists.
