Well, the UK game was a bit disappointing considering we didn't play to our full potential, especially on defense and at the foul line. UK's Brea went off for 7/9 at the 3, even with hands in his face. I hate losing to Kentucky more than any other SEC team but it is what it is. I'm hoping we see them again in the SECT on a neutral court, well as neutral as possible since the SECT is in Nashville. UT also has an outstanding 3 point shooter in Lanier, of which we need to be mindful. We certainly don't need another 7/9 3 point incident again. Tennessee and Florida share a common opponent in Virginia. Gators beat Virginia by 18 at home, while the Vols beat them by 22 points in the Bahamas, so that's a bit of a wash. UT is similar to where UF was in not being tested sans the UK game. Barring a 7/9 3 point repeat, I really like our chances at home, especially if we play better defense and shoot FTs at a better rate. Time for redemption against the #1 team in the land... Go Gators!
When is the last time we beat a #1 in the regular season? Been quite awhile. Feel great about our chances at home.
A great opportunity. I'd be happy to see an improvement in defense. It was disappointing to see a few guys not shooting with confidence. Hopefully the home court makes a difference.
I think we win this one. Not going to be a shootout like the Kentucky game. It will be a hard fought kinda low scoring game. UT makes you earn every basket. We need to take care of the ball and exploit Ziegler’s lack of size.
I know this sounds like a broken record, but if we hit our 3s to a high level, I don't see anyone beating us. I seriously doubt Tennessee is going to go on a 3-point tear at our house. But we shall see.
We have never beaten #1 in the regular season. We have only beaten #1 twice, both times in the tourney (Duke 2000 and Ohio St 2007).
It would be great to get it done. UT is kind of funny because most people don't view them as the best team in the country yet they keep being #1 in the AP poll. Lets make it easier on the voters next go around!
Expecting this game to be another rock fight like the UK game, but with a better outcome for the Gators. Hope the Rowdies show out for this game.
Yeah, it's a tempo dichotomy between TN and FL. TN has scored 90+ three times. The highest any team has scored against them is 70 (Syracuse). FL has scored 90+ five times and (sadly) gave up 106. OTOH the Gators have given up 80+ only three times. We need to be able to get out and push tempo. A grinder probably favors the Vols.
I think they’re officially not back yet, cause this 35 year alumni has seats in the Rowdy Reptile section for the game. I’m bringing my A game as I have consumed lots of lemon and honey in preparation for tonight.
I just checked... UF Spring semester starts Jan 13. Seems like when I was a student (90s), we started in the first week of January. I hope at least some of the Rowdies can make it to the game tonight.
we need to come out with a Blitzkrieg on defense and get some transition buckets off TOs. I think size-wise we actually match up pretty well with them, we just need to tight up our 3pt D and not make unforced errors like turnovers and missed FTs
