Yeah, it appears that you don't know what a "placebo" is. A "placebo" group would think that they were on a Keto diet but wouldn't be. That is, obviously, absurd, as a person can observe what they eat.

I think you mean a "control" group. And there are enough RCTs on Ketogenic diets to conduct a meta-analysis on the topic.

Alcohol could well have a poisoning effect, on the body, just as cancer could well be a protective response to toxicity. It makes more sense to me than the notion of cancer as a rogue cell going haywire.

Perhaps alcohol drinkers could have been “getting” cancer, from time immemorial, but were living out their lives with undiagnosed cancer.

How would that work? How would cancer defend against toxicity? For this to be true, we would need to see some evidence of positive affects of cancer, which I'm not sure we have evidence for.

Last part is definitely true because we have no numbers for cancer deaths prior to the modern age. For instance, it's presumed that Napoleon died of stomach (or some kind of digestive) cancer, but no proof. And, historically speaking, that wasn't that long ago.

I’m merely speculating at this point, but I’m intrigued by the notion that a tumor is the body’s ingenious way of sequestering toxins it cannot readily eliminate This does not mean everything’s hunky-dory as you have to be concerned about the poisoning that is occasioning the sequestration, I.e., the root cause.

In any case, I’ve known too many who have been ravaged by chemo, radiation and massive doses of steroids (everything AND the kitchen sink) not to open my mind to other explanations and strategies.

Was interested in the link but it has to do with ED presentations more than anything. Alcohol can absolutely be dangerous. But comparing it to heroin and crack like this is apples and oranges. Now alcohol abuse...

It's a sacrifice they should be willing to make so that billionaires can get tax breaks when they buy new private jets.

A puff or two of an outstanding strain of weed is good deal more pleasurable and mind expanding than a slug of any alcoholic beverage.

I'd like to let this stink bomb rest upon Gen Z, but the fact is that the surgeon general is of my gen--Gen X---the gen that ushered in suicide rock--music to kill yourself to (grunge rock)--as it's founder did, and as, apparently, rock n roll itself did.

History will prolly not remember us too fondly. Seems our only strength is that we make great parents....

....which redounds to the benefit of the mils and Genz Y, and perhaps to a lesser extent, Gen Z (we were ignored... and responded by ushering in the rug rat race, and helicopter parenting...).

....and Elon Musk--the richest cat on the planet who single handedly brought electric to the car, man back to space, balanced social media, and now appears to be poised to bring fiscal responsibility to government (talk about poop in the punch bowl...!).

But gen Z gets a pass here.

Johns Hopkins says the help to cardiovascular systems makes at least wine worth the risk.

And am I the only one that thinks two drinks a day is not "light" ?

I have like one or two a week, so I think I'm good.

Just be a beer snob like me and they are costing so much these days that it keeps you sober! :D

I’ve seen studies that suggest health benefits accruing from 2-4 servings for males and 1-2 servings for females. Much beyond 2 servings and I fall asleep. I’m a lightweight.
