GA really needed a blocker on the left. #57 was lost. Maybe they should have put a TE to help him. They were doomed when Beck had to sit out.
The crayon thing is after my time. I never got it but I seem to be the only one. :-D I use terms like 'leatherneck' and 'gyrene' and people be like "wut?" LOL - I'm old.
I wonder how much that matters to him. I don't have any ill will towards him but he seems the type of guy that would care about this kind of thing. He made a decision to come to Florida and that made it his place because he said he wanted his own path. His brother has Clemson, he had UF. Now does he feel that way about Athens? I doubt it but maybe. Same with Pyburn - So he'll be going to Homecomings in decrepit Baton Rouge? I wonder if those guys really factor that into their money grab. I understand why a kid wouldn't necessarily understand that side of this. You don't think about these things until you're on the other side. I know I have some regrets in this department. Does anyone know if he's staying or going to NFL?
I’ve seen a pretty small sampling of Beck this year but, I don’t think he would have been a difference maker in the game against Notre Dame. He looked worse against Ole Miss than Stockton did against The Irish. Georgia was beat at the line of scrimmage most of the game, both sides, and that wasn’t supposed to happen.
It's been a long time since I've seen an UGA OL get totally owned like that. They clearly are not what they were just a couple of years ago. Not even close, really.
In the new CFB environment it's really tough to stack talent like cordwood as the gumps and mutts were doing for a few years. It's starting to show. The days of dynasties are over unless things change again.
After the game, they interviewed Mushie as he was stepping onto the bus. He replied, "We lost the game up front."
My initial response was that they tried to keep him, they didn't want him to leave and they weren't happy to see him leave. Maybe they were outbid by UGA, or maybe the money was equal and he just wanted to start, he clearly wasn't going to start here with Johnson returning. There are several here that seem to think the staff was indifferent about him leaving, and I just don't think that was the case. I don't remember him having a Pyburn list of demands, but maybe he did? Either way it wouldn't have stung like it did, had he gone anywhere else.
I will admit that I was one of those people who was upset that ETN left and felt as if we were not committed to keeping our top talent. But I must say that I was mistaken. You have to tip your hat to Billy and the staff for their ability to identify underrated talent. This RB room is probably the best that I have seen since Anderson, Hampton, and Williams ran through SEC defenses in the early 80’s. (Google it)! Billy has the problem of keeping everyone engaged and happy, which is a great problem to have.
