He's in no man's land without a great option. He will be splitting carries and may be taking a pay cut if he stays at UGA. Another portal stop may get him more carries and more risk of injury but not improve his stock. He's already missed games with injuries. Still a talented back and his best bet may be to take the 3rd round $, learn how to block and survive to a 2nd contract.
Well I enjoyed Trevors game while at UF, but am very happy his current team is eliminated. He had a crucial fumble against the Irish and his blocking does not seem to have improved. While I understand the posters here giving Treavor the business, the new reality of College Football has less to do with school, loyalty or even a statue, it has to do with money, and not only from the players perspective, but for every entity involved, espcially University Presidents, TV executives, right on down the line. Kids will be flying back and forth between schools constantly as has already been demonstrated. Some kids are already on school #4. Perhaps some have made even more changes. it's interesting that Bama and UGA have "dropped" off this year. Which makes me very happy. Not that I want the likes of OSU and Notre Dame to be successful, but I have grown tired of the BAMA, UGA SEC strangle hold. Just my opinion, but I doubt "loyalty to school" will mean anything more than what an NFL players loyalty to team matters. And we all know how the NFL players and their agents roll 99% of the time, "loyalty" goes to the highest bidder.
If they picked up ANY it was more. His failure to block shows who he is. He is only concerned about himself, not his teammates and it shows on the field. Georgia is a great place for him, he helped them lose and I hope they are happy with him.
There are a number of things worth remembering regarding ETN, UF and UGA/Kirby. First, BN saw that the kid had some talent early on, while others, including UGA, slept on him. Considering how things might have gone for him minus his time at UF, the general crassness, slander and entitlement coming out of that camp, along with his continuing averageness, convinces me that we're well rid of him and his family. FTR, IMHO, he'll remain a rotational player at UGA, just like he was at UF. He is not a three down starting SEC RB and never will be. In fact, he's already been recruited over and will probably see less PT next year - not more. He's obviously not a fit in the UF locker room in any shape, form or fashion. Good riddance. Now about that Kirby guy. His history of running an undisciplined, out of control program off the field may finally be catching up with him a bit. The noticeable decline in the quality of play overall, plus the instability at QB and the OL, has to be worrisome for the nice folks in Athens. Don't take me wrong, I don't think KS is a bad coach - particularly on D. But I do think his history of trying to injure UF off the field by actively poaching recruits Billy had identified, whether he actually wanted them or not, and then likely outright poaching ETN, speaks reems about the guy. Throw in his giving the Rashada shitshow new life for a giggle, and I'd say the book on KS and ETN boils down to two complete knuckleheads who richly deserve one another.
And there wasnt a glaring difference in ypc either. If he was so damn explosive, why were their yoc almost identical. Shiny is a good word.
Who really cares about an SEC title. Like who remembers the World Series winner 2 years ago. Same thing in my boat. Really means nothing now
Sloppy work on my part. He is a former student and digging in to the definition makes me re-think the entire proposition.
I understand your point about the mechanics of modern CFB and the importance of conference championships. But I suspect that most of us who waited for decades to celebrate the first one will probably disagree. A bit of history; my maternal Grandfather became a die-hard Gator fan from the time he moved that branch of the family to Jacksonville from SC, about the time the SEC was formed. It still saddens me that he passed the year before the HBC returned to make his long-held dream come true - repeatedly. Fortunately, my dad was blessed to see the HBC do his thing, although he left us before the Meyer NCs occurred. It means a lot to me personally that he lived to see UF FB on top of the CFB world, and those SEC rings were as important to him as they were in the moment to all Gator fans every where. I personally want as many as we can win because it means we kicked ass in the conference that has given us ample reason over the decades to want to do just that. GG.
No, no, no. CBN is an idiot and the boosters are cheapasses. They should have done everything possible to retain him and make his mother happy. NOT!
I def think they tried to keep him, he's an experienced back and before he left he was on track to be a great gator and fan favorite, so much so fans wanted to see him start over Johnson. Baugh was behind Webb before he got injured. We may not have gotten the full baugh experience had Webb and Johnson not been hurt. So I think it's giving the staff a little too much credit to say they let him walk knowing what we had incoming.
See my SEC ring and watch on my avatar. Winning the SEC has been and will always be a huge deal. It just means more- as they say. Oh- and if you don't believe me find Steve Spurrier one day and tell him about how the SEC doesn't mean anything. See if he agrees with your theory. Etn may not agree w/ Spurrier but we saw his character already.
Its less meaningful now that it can be a rank popularity contest just to get into the title game. Getting into and winning that game used to mean something.
