This article- FSU’s far-reaching plans to bridge an $85 million challenge -was linked in the recruiting board, but in addition to some nice nole schadenfreude, it includes both a summary of ACC issues and an overview of imminent college money issues in general. I never hesitate to raise here that Gator baseball lives in very thin air at the highest levels of the sport and Gator fans should be grateful we have such a superior program. Other colleges have a small fraction of the resources we have and run in company much less exclusive than the SEC. FS is a big college with more athletic success than nearly everyone else; their conference is one of the Power Four and they are one of its strongest athletic programs. That said, SEC money is truly killing the big programs, not to mention the little guys. It doesn't bother me that they feel bad about what's happening, but their struggles should inform our own decisions and actions. For example, Tn is adding a 10% ticket surcharge they call a talent fee. Even if we never use that term, UF certainly will charge ticket buyers their share of whatever amount the House settlement requires they pay. I wasn't shocked that noles are improving their awful stadium, after all, UF is doing the same. But I didn't know they were so far into their changes. Finally, the article is the wrapup of a series, but I didn't take time to read the earlier, more detailed chapters.
