Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov rejected proposals Monday floated by President-elect Trump’s allies to end the war in Ukraine, dealing a major setback for the incoming president’s hopes to freeze the conflict. In an interview with Russian state-run media outlet TASS, Lavrov said Moscow has “not received any official signals regarding a settlement in Ukraine” but the Kremlin was resistant to those unofficial ideas. “We are not happy, of course, with the proposals made by members of the Trump team to postpone Ukraine’s admission to NATO for 20 years and to station British and European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine,” he said, responding to leaked reports of Trump’s proposals. Russia rejects Trump Ukraine peace proposals I am surprised that they actually tried. I am not surprised by the outcome however
Hope he accomplishes what he promised. Concepts of a plan, tick tock… Jan 21st morning (24 hrs) is not that far away.
I don’t see the need for a separate thread on this, but of course Russia rejected the framework. Russia is the problem. If they don’t want to talk, let’s keep bleeding them. I’ll bet Ukraine has another year of fight in them. I’ll bet Russia does not. Even if one thinks their casualties are sustainable (they aren’t), one year ago they still had Syria, the ruble had not collapsed, Chechnya was not in open rebellion, Israel had not proven how dramatically Russia was behind the West in air defenses vs. airstrikes, and Russia still had some of the war chest it had built up to resist Western sanctions. What will another year bring?
We'll know if Trump succeeded on his promise to end the war on day 1 of his presidency in a few weeks.
Because everyone loves a good war, right? Can't keep making World War II movies forever, we need new wars, right? What is wrong with you people?
No one with a clue thinks Russia would ever allow Ukraine to join NATO. Kellogg isn't particularly bright.
Russia has no say in the matter. Get used to that as what little power continues to wane and wane until - and along with demographic collapse - there's pretty much nothing left. Yea Vodka for speeding the process along.
Here's the difference between us two. If I didn't made a call right now to stop the war I would applaud it. If Trump made a call right now to stop the war I would applaud it and say that I was wrong. For you, if Biden stopped it right now you would find some way to bash it and blame the start of the war on him
