An interesting analysis of who is applying and where H-1B’s are being awarded. The thread sums up the data that these H-1B’s are not your granddaddy’s program from the 60’s. This is a mid- at best displacement of American STEM graduates and not a lot a pull of the sharpest minds of the world. At worst, these are foreign corps creating a beachhead in the US economy.
Very talented politician. Worked as both a fry cook at McDonald's and a garbage truck driver all within a period of less than 10 days.
You mean a million Americans died from a once a century pandemic and the economy went into tailspin because Democrats largely got their wish and shut down the Country. Now tell me how the economy was from 2017 - 2019 under Trump? I remember the economy in those years being really good, probably the best of my adult life. It makes sense you would only want to focus on 2020. If Hilary Clinton had gotten in, a million Americans still would have died from Covid and economy would've gone flat out into depression as Hilary would've tried to do an even harder shut down of the Country. With Hilary Covid would have been much worse. Oh and thank you Trump for handing Biden the Covid vax (even if it didn't work, we didn't know it at the time) and a way out of the pandemic.
Nah. Hillary wouldn't have repeatedly LIED about covid like Trump did, causing probably 100s of thousands of excess deaths, in what was probably the greatest (deliberate) failure of leadership in American history. Don't try to falsely rewrite history. We were there. Cool. So the vaccine is good now? Hard to keep track. Oh wait - it didn't work. LOL. Also; Thank you so much for creating a vaccine that didn't work, Trump! You're the greatest!!!
Driving those automated side load trucks is actually very mentally taxing, as hard to imagine as that is. You have to remain completely focused for like 6 or 7 hours straight. Lots of safety issues and tight driving lining up those cans. Like I said, it's probably the hardest driving position you can have for a class B CDL. Most class B jobs are just delivery drivers. Good news is all those automated side load driver positions are going to be robotic soon enough.....
The economy from 2017 through 2019 was characterized by the continuation of the trend that began in 2010 under Obama. Interestingly when Trump was campaigning in 2016 he called the labor market data from the BLS phony. After he took office in 2017 it suddenly became credible even though the data was from the same federal agency and was developed using the same methodology. 19 times Trump called jobs numbers ‘fake’ before they made him look good The chances are that far fewer Americans would died from Covid under Hillary Clinton. In case you may have forgotton: 'It's going to disappear': A timeline of Trump's claims that Covid-19 will vanish It was almost two months into the pandemic before Trump really took it seriously. Shortly after he took office he tore up the Obama Administrations contingency plans for handling a pandemic. If Trump took those plans seriously there is a good chance that there would have been fewer deaths from Covid-19. A pandemic plan was in place. Trump abandoned it — and science — in the face of Covid-19
In 2003, UF was up 33-10 late in the 3 quarter against Miami … I remember that game as the best 2 and half quarters of my adult life. It doesn’t make sense to focus on the 4th quarter.
cheap tech labor driving down white collar salaries and reducing domestic demand for stem graduates. simply driving down the salary and making the working conditions worse drives down applicants to the programs.
In retrospect, Trump campaigning on stopping the immigrants from taking "black jobs", which I guess he defines as lawn mowers, dishwashers, fruit pickers, construction laborers, etc ... he never said he'd do anything about the "white jobs" ... sorry white Trump voters, you should have listened closer ...
Elon Musk changes his tune on H1-B visas after MAGA backlash Elon Musk admitted that the H1-B visas are “broken” and floated a potential fix as he sought to cool a raging civil war within the MAGA base over the immigration program for highly skilled foreign workers. Just a day after vowing to “go to war on this issue” and telling detractors to “F— yourself,” Musk, the world’s richest man, acknowledged some of the criticisms of the program getting abused and argued that the US should make it more costly to hire foreigners. “Easily fixed by raising the minimum salary significantly and adding a yearly cost for maintaining the H1B, making it materially more expensive to hire from overseas than domestically,” Musk wrote on X late Saturday in response to a thread claiming H1-B visas were being used to hire low-wage programmers and developers.
