Crazy, crazy world. The people who made it possible, the fans, are who is bearing the burden of all of this.

Just further proof that NIL has ruined the college game. At this point adopt the professional league structures and take away the portal. Go to standardized contracts for all involved. Shame.

Actually, I hate that this new world of NIL is driving people away from their livelihoods. Yes, there are those that say the coaches should adapt. But when I listen to Saban on game day, he makes more sense than anybody regarding NIL.

Kinda hypocritical on his part. He bailed on George Mason for more money after they lost to us in the final four. How is it any different than what the players did?
I don’t agree with all of the NIL nonsense, but he has a weak argument IMO.

Excellent point. Virtually ALL coaches bolt for the bigger money and bigger opportunities. The only one I can think of that hasn't is Mark Few.
Anyhow, I think Larrannaagga's sudden midseason departure has more to do with his 4-8 record than money-hungry players.

I know he was a "Cane" but I still remember George Masons historic cinderella run, cut short by, well, you know.

Once the field of 64 was announced, I remember quite well Jay Bilas having his extended conniption about lowly George Mason being included over teams from his mighty ACC. 11-seed GMU proceeded to methodically dispatch Michigan State, North Carolina, Wichita State, and UConn before running into the juggernaut that was the Gators.
No teams from the ACC got past the Sweet 16. Bilas shut his pie-hole for a while after that.

Why am I not surprised that the power brokers of college football, including NCAA officials, chose to meet in a casino in Las Vegas?

Wow. You'd think someone would have mentioned the optics of meeting in such a venue.

I thought the George Mason / UCONN contest was fantastic! Of course because Uconn lost!

Interesting comments considering that final four team was bought and paid for (Omier, Pack & Jordan Miller were all transfers).

Agree...I think he realized he is not going to get enough NIL from Miami for basketball to compete. I'd imagine any NIL Miami can scrape together is probably going to go to football mostly.

Prolly. Their money guy-the lifewallet crook Ruiz-is paying so many lawyers now just trying to stay out of jail, that he is done. He never really had major bank in the first place; it was all flim flam.

Does anyone know if all the Gators hoopsters receive some amount of NIL money? I'd hope that even our walk-ons get something. A guy like Ollie could get a lot.

Not saying you are wrong, but curious as to what you mean by the first part of your second sentence.

Well, he is not a student receiving a scholarship for college on account of some athletic capability.
I think some coaches will play by any current rules in an attempt to make their team better or competitive, or perhaps a champion. Other coaches need employment and would not intentionally jeopardize their position. Then, there are a few coaches who abhor the new rules and want no part of it for a myriad of reasons.
