https://247sports.com/player/johntay-cook-ii-46086827/ Guess he didn't like how crowded, and talented, our WR room is looking.....
Yeah I mentioned it before but I did not see the appeal for him. People still hung up on his highschool rating I guess and maybe he will reach that potential but he left a playoff team and he seems to need attention. The staff went after him so what do I know. I'd take another Badger or Dike in a heartbeat though.
Maybe they kicked the tires and said no ty. We have plenty of receivers with potential. If we get another, 30-40 catches 500 yards and a few tds should be a prerequisite.
We wont but i read his twitter and was turned off. Then i read his actual stats and was not impressed.
That's fine, but we need a guy that can slide into WR2 (assuming J-Mike is the #1). Leaves Trey in the slot and then you have a rotation with Mizell and Dallas
4 good ones coming in from HS and an experienced WR coming from UCLA for last season. Let’s hope they can play. Will need dis upped route running and to be able to effectively block in order for Billy to let them on the field.
I like this approach. If you look at how Missouri approaches the portal, every single one of their portal takes is production over potential. Every player they signed from the portal was a starter at their previous school and is what is considered a "productive" player (ie starter, stats, etc). It really is a smart approach
I agree this is a reasonable approach, but proven, productive players aren't cheap. You have to be willing to pay if you're going to do this, especially at the premium positions.
Careful man - some butthead may jump on your ass accusing you of “clutching at pearls” or some nonsense
And that pops flags in my head. You’re a starter and racking up great numbers with your team, and you choose to leave all that in your rearview and go for a bigger bag. I don’t like it when our own guys do that. But I love Badger and Dike who came to us the same way. It’s just effed up
I thought I read he couldn't crack the top 5 at Texas. I was surprised we even went after him. I'm kind of glad he went elsewhere. There will be very likely be better options in the spring.
I wasnt excited about the kid from the beginning but didnt want to say so because i thought he might be a gator.
