not a UcheaT fan at all but oh ho ho state fans are the worst fans I have ever had the misfortune to have to share a stadium with on another note, it needs to be either 8 or 16- no bye's ( I prefer 8)
The best part is Vol fans get to rewatch their game vs OSU over and over again on the SEC network this week.
Perhaps, but I also look at it as these schools now all have a strong schedule instead of playing the patsies in their old conferences, which would have enabled them to ease into the CFP.
Do they, though? The current system now creates unbalanced schedules and you have a team like Texas who really hadn’t beaten anyone of note getting in. To be clear, I am not arguing that Texas shouldn’t have been in, but when you compare the schedules of Mississippi State and Florida with Texas and a few others, I’m not sure that will be the case going forward.
This x1000! The conference schedules are so imbalanced that saying team X plays an SEC or B1G schedule doesn't mean that much. Ohio St and Indiana did not play comparable schedules. UGA and Tennessee did not play comparable schedules. This is going to create flawed, distorted playoff rankings every year and there isn't much the committees can do about it.
If SOS replaces the entire committee, would he have to leave the room when deciding about UF's ranking?
Stewart Mandel has some really good points in The Athletic today. We want to put the CFP, or even Greg Sankey, on full blast. But things to remember: - This format came out before Texas/OU went to SEC - Before P5 became P4, which then messed up the byes, because... - Consolidation then led to 2 mega-conferences in P4 and thus 2 weak P4 conferences - UT/OU led to dissolving divisions in SEC - The old system had blowouts - In fact, the parity-first NFL had 5 of 6 wildcard games as blowouts last year - Changing the CFP format required a unanimous vote and this was never going to lead to what most wanted Now, if you can blame all that on Sankey, then wow, he's pretty powerful.
I only watched enough of the game to see the butt whipping coming. For me, that made my night. UT is the team I dislike most in the SEC. So much so, I didn’t mind that is was OSU bloodying up their nose. Now……as sure as the sun rises and they get a month or two down the road, they’ll have a monumental excuse of why they got their butt kicked to the curb & across the sidewalk.
