Whatever back at ya. Your "Everyone gets a trophy" mentality is snowing. Maybe we should put them in blow-up dinosaur suits too, so "nobody gets hurt".
Im really just agreeing with you and using indiana as an example. I like 16 as this year i think the next four have a better shot at winning than the last four they let in. Yesterday was horrible maychups but it wont be that way every year. Some lower seeds are better than some in the playoffs. I also dont want to ever see a game at 10 below in a blizzard. There should be some kind of rules for weather.
They beat Iowa state and byu. If they’re not ranked at the end of the year it doesn’t count. FSU was ranked at the beginning of the year and look how good they ended up
Gotcha. Myself, I think 8 playoff teams are enough. There's always teams that feel like they should get in regardless the size of the field. I like more emphasis on in season success. With that said, I thought 4 was OK until last year. As much as we hate FSU, they got screwed last year year. I think it's the only team that's been legitimately passed over with the 4 team field.
Did they? I didn't think they had a quality win all year. I remember thinking they were lucky to beat MS St. They probably have atleast 4 losses in the SEC.
You can only play who is on your schedule. I don't disagree about the losses if in the SEC but there are too many teams and conferences. So you have to play your conference schedule. They beat ISU, KSU Utah and BYU all ranked at the time in the 2nd half of their season. Personally I want to see the Big 10 and SEC break away and form their own league and only schedule each other.
By your criteria only the SEC and Big10 should play for a NC. Which I like but is not how the CFP is set up at this time. Hopefully those two conferences breakaway and form a super conference.
They might. I agree about the LegHumper/Notre Dame winner probably making the championships since they would only (likely) have to face Penn State. However, the Ohio State/Oregon winner has to face (likely) Texas which I think could beat either if Texas holds down dumb mistakes.
Listening to a clip from Finebaum. He says that Sankey said on his show, this wasn't the playoff format he wanted.
The biggest problem with the SEC championship as you can't really decide who deserves to be there because the schedules are not close to equal. there are too many teams in the conference now to have an entire division play each other and have criteria that is infallible. I like the idea of four pods and a four team playoff, but there's just not enough time for all of that. I like the played on the field and do not like humans voting for anything to do with sports. Computers have no context and it's all a bunch of bullshit. That's really the only reason I like is because no one could possibly be left out that deserve to be there. Then they can play it on the field and quit their bitching. Who cares about the 17th and 18th team that bitches
Without Travis,, no doubt about it. I think the four best teams should've gotten in and FSU damn sure was not one of them without him.
Saying you can only play your schedule is such a fatuous statement. Unless someone is saying they should beat teams not on their schedule? The point is they shouldn’t be rewarded for a good record with such a weak schedule. Beating a ranked team is meaningless, outside of injuries, unless that team is ranked after the conference championship games. How many ranked teams did ASU beat that were ranked on December 8th I’d like something like that. Maybe allow them to invite two teams outside of those two conferences. I would have invited ND and UM.
Ya, after they lost their QB. IF the QB was healthy, nope. With their QB, FSU was as good as the UT team that destroyed Bama in Tuscaloosa.
I agree. It won't be easy, it's the bracket championship games, I just think that's how it'll end up.
You're the one saying it. ASU can't play SEC teams if their not in the SEC. They have to play a Big 12 schedule. And I will say it again, there are too many teams for everyone to play a tough schedule or ranked teams. That's why there needs to be different levels or a super league. Until that changes the conferences have to be looked at equally even though everyone knows there not.
Texas is 5-2 against ranked teams This idea that it doesn't count if they're not ranked at the end of the year is crazy. There are too many teams involved to say that. Go to ESPN College Football Standings, 2024 season - ESPN and look at the last column of W/L against ranked teams There are only 12 teams that have a winning record against ranked teams in the regular season. 6 of them didn't play for their conference championship or make the CFP. Now I think they rank teams entirely too early in the season and that leads to bias throughout. Rankings shouldn't be out until the 8th game or later and the previous year should mean nothing and SOS should only be the current year's win loss record.
