The piano prof is not typically earning a Ph.D. They earn a DMA. If they can get a full-time professorship, there is a return on the investment. The DMA is going to be required for music performance faculty at any reputable institution.

It appears that the cancellations were recently approved. Maybe a bunch of folks applied now due to the upcoming administration change.

The Biden Admin has been making student loan forgiveness a priority for his entire time in office. I'm just very hesitant to believe that these approval just came through now, especially with some other things the Admin is trying to do on the way out the door.

At least you can't accuse Biden of trying to buy votes with this last batch of forgiveness.

Geez, if those dirtbags don't want to pay off their debts, let them declare bankruptcy like decent Americans!

Especially one American who managed companies in which he was the CEO into bankruptcy at least six times.

Correct. Unlike debt attributable to incompetent management of real estate development companies debt from college loans is not normally dischargeable through bankruptcy.

This program in question was put into place via an Act under George W. It was kneecapped under Trump with an absurd number of administrative changes to make it nearly impossible to take advantage of a perk that was sold to potential civil servants as a perk to take a lower salary than private industry.

It requires ten years of on-time payments with what I think has to be almost entirely during public service.

“Dirtbags?” They’re “dirtbags” for finally being rewarded for a once-promised perk of Federal service.

Believe you are missing the sarcasm. Bill is OK with Trump and his ilk declaring bankruptcy over and over again while they vilify all students eligible for the loan forgiveness program as "dirtbag' free loader, irresponsible types.....

It's ok. Seems like Bill missed it too when he "corrected" river and reminded him thst student debt does not get discharged when filing bankruptcy....yet another hypocrisy from some of our hard-core party line posters.

Funny when they changed how much you could borrow the schools started jacking up the prices big time. Curious how that worked.
