This is the best thread creation of the year. The Vol fans piped Rocky Top into the jukeboxes of the Waffel Houses, came up with this silly hashtag, Neyland North, and said they would throw Ohio St.'s goalpost in the river after they win. Then they had to sit in the bitter cold weather and watch their team get dismantled. They deserve every bit of that a** whipping they took last night.

Niko is a complete bust. Anyone with a brain can see he’s an awful QB. Josh caught lightening in a bottle with Hooker. They haven’t done a thing since he left.

It's obvious it is and will be as flawed as it's always been.
Boise State having a first round Bye is proof of that!
    Give me a break.

This is the schedule that they had to endure to go 12-1:
Boise State Broncos 2024 Regular Season NCAAF Schedule - ESP
    Opponents overall W-L record 60-75.

    This is pretty good:

There needs to be specific selection criteria that all teams agree to and that criteria is to be used by a computer to pick the top 12 teams. No single criterion will have greater weight than another. And no human opinions on who should get in!

This is why i was an advocate for 6 when they started talking about expanding. You want a guaranteed seat at the table...win your conference. Notre Dame, join a conference. That one extra spot is no guarantee but everyone (in P5) controls their own destiny. Like I said Notre Dame...join a conference!!!

They are gonna add more teams because of money. It’s not going down to 8.

The count is not the problem. The problem is 50% selection and 50% seeding. ASU and Boise will almost certainly get blown out, Oregon's reward for 1st seed is a neutral game vs a pissed off extremely talented team and only because of injury to Beck will Notre Dame look better than they are.

Home games until the Championship game or at minimum the semi. Getting a bye week should also come with a home game. That's another 10%, this playoff was 110% wrong.

I know it's fun to rub salt in the wound, but the UTk fans showed up and showed out, their team didn't. It's not like UF fans didn't show up in force only to have the team lay some eggs this season.

I think about the same but want 16 so usce gets to prove that instead ofindiana's of the world believing differently. I wish we had 16 last year to ensure fsu got their ass smoked. Bama already proved they could knock off Georgia so if it happened again so be it. Someone outside the top 8 will eventually win it all.

The bcs left out auburn which was obviously a horrible and biased decision. 16 leaves no doubt.

That's quite the leap from "maybe one team has an argument" to "let's go ahead and let 14 more teams in." No team outside the top 8 is going to go on a run and win 4 straight games against four of the top 8 teams. This isn't college basketball. With 8 teams there is no doubt that the two best teams are in there somewhere so you will get a rightful champion.

Its not impossible for bama, usce, ot ol miss to win out. Not likely but once in a while, id bet ine does make that run. I remember when the 9-7 Raiders did just that. Before that everyone said a wildcard team could never win. Shit happens. We could have lagway out and lise a few fames and be eliminated. If he came back for the playoffs as a low seed, it could happen. Theres no Joe burrow dropping 50 on everyone this year and they are sll beatable.

I still enjoyed watching the games and home field should be until champ, just like NFL playoffs. Reward for 1 seed should be the playoffs run through Eugene, OR.

This is more the concept of winning a tournament where anything can happen (injuries, blizzards, coach dying of a heart attack, locusts, etc) versus finding the top few teams and having them play each other to crown a champion. Sure, crazy things can happen, but you don't need a 16 team playoff to crown a champion. I do like the idea of teams from the north getting home games in December to give them an advantage they never get in traditional warm weather bowls, though. I would love to see Wisconsin against Miami in Madison in late December in the snow. But that is where it is more about winning a tournament and the luck of the draw and match ups versus the previous concept of trying to get the top couple teams in a one off bowl game to crown the champ.

While I'm not a fan of 16 teams in, I would like to see more home games on campus and keeping the round of 8 quarterfinals in the 4 main bowls. Not that I want to reward the bowls for all of their poor influence, so let me expound.

The 4 home games this year was great to see because it showcased some of the great stadiums in college football. Texas, Ohio State, and Notre Dame fans were given a huge treat, even if the fans didn't like their seedings. The leadup game coverages were only enhanced by the locations and the fans. Imagine if the Swamp got to host one. Or, if in the future, LSU and Clemson got one in their Death Valleys. There's plenty more stadiums that we could name. Sure, it's an easy win for many of these matchups and home field advantages, but in reality it accelerates the "semi-pro" college narrative. Trust me, I still like the old days of amateur athletics more, but we ain't going back anytime soon. So, with that in mind 16 teams with 8 home locations will create more interest and another great weekend of college football.

As to the 4 bowl locations, the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta (you name the last one if you want to round robin a few others) allows fan interaction away from the campus environment. Regardless of their influence, these bowls provide a great experience and chance for the fans to celebrate many events around New Years in some very unique places. Pasadena has the Rose Bowl, New Orleans has the French Quarter, and Miami has a wide variety. But and most importantly, two of those locations are easy for Gator fans to travel. Plus, if you throw in the Peach, we improve our chance for one more great Gator turnout. This also improves the SEC's chances overall, not that all of us want to see them win, but the conference provides those opportunities for its fans.

One other reason for the bowl locations in the quarterfinals and on is better weather for traveling fans. Sure, we would all like to send Miami or some blow hard UCF fans from the past up to Boise State or Ohio State in January, but the longer northern teams win with high top 4 rankings, the better their chances improve because of weather and less chances for visiting fans to participate.

To the contrary, expanding to 16 means some locations will suck if they give teams like Boise State, BYU, or Iowa State an opportunity. Not assuming that would have happened this year but it sure is close. Imagine If UCF gets their act back together and they host one in their Bounce House, no thank you. That would be the exact opposite of what college football needs.

In closing (sorry for the long post), I personally think 8 teams are enough for the college playoffs, but 16 teams opens up more chances to expand college, that is Semi-Pro, football and showcase some great fan experiences. The money drives everything so either stop supporting it all or keep sending in your future retirement funds.

No shame to the Vols. When their mind is right, the Buckeyes are the best team in the country

Buckeyes may be the best team in the nation.

    They just don’t do Michigan.

Goes to show what is wrong with the playoff system.

Obviously, the Citrus Bowl should have been a first round playoff game.
