What an absolute embarrassment for my FSU buds. After watching them sue the ACC multiple times another conference would have to be fools to even consider admitting them. If FSU isn’t careful they are going to be conference-less.

It’s nice seeing that shitty operation get what they deserve. This isn’t even schadenfreude — they’ve been a dishonest, cheating, crooked, scumbag program for decades and no amount of shit that rains down on them is enough. It’s 100%their own doing

Although i dont like the nfl much anymore, i prefer their model over euro soccer anyday. Make the playing field as even as possible.

So, 32 teams with full revenue sharing?

Let's be real here. Further, you're missing the point. College was always more similar to that than anything in US professional sports - in almost every way - and is now even more similar with money added.

If we're looking for solutions, there's a comp out there that can be modeled or at least learned from. That's all I'm saying. The NFL model does not work here unless you're willing to massively trim the number of teams. I don't think any of us want a 40-team College Super League.

He prefers a super league to cupcake games as long as nobody is playing cupcakes.

As opposed to essentially the same system, but with short term contracts? To each it's own, I guess.

I used to think so. But if you ever hang with euros or Latins during a big soccer match, the stoppage time gets them whipped into an even bigger frenzy. Plus, it gives them something to argue about.

I was in Costa Rica when they advanced three games at the World Cup. It was pure anarchy. The whole country was shut down, roads blocked, chicas walking around in lingerie. My son and I had to reschedule our flights, because we couldn't get from the coast to the airport. It was epic.

It's hard to do, that's what. Your brain has to work differently to be able to use your feet like that. Think about it.

this thread is going off the rails but hey I’m in! lol

I have hated it for years but have warmed up a bit to it for a few reasons…

    1) I was in Germany in 2014 for the entire World Cup when they won. Was a fun experience.

    2) I play a free fantasy soccer league. Made me pay attention more.

    3) while nothing pretty much happens a lot of the time, there is little to no interruptions to play. Contrast that to my favorite sport , football. A study earlier this year showed that during an NFL game, total actual active game time/playing time per game was 12 minutes of the 3 hr plus game time. 12 minutes of actual game play taking out commercials, huddles, etc. probably worse for college football. That is pretty bad that for a 3 hour game there is only plays happening for 12 minutes.

my favorite commentary on soccer came from a simpsons episode when World Cup was in Brazil…

“…and they have an insurmountable 1-0 lead with 70 minutes left to play”. lol

I had two german friends visiting when germany won the 90 WC. I usualy watch it as its usually the only thing on. I told my german friends that the only reason they were world champions is we dont care about it. I told them only dorks and women play soccer and therefore all Germans are dorks and their women are hairy and ugly.

For football it’s not even just that. I often will record our games, start watching an hour and a half after kick off and be more than caught up by games end. And that is just fast forwarding through the pre game intro, commercials, the thirty seconds after a change of possession, replay reviews, timeouts, injuries, halftime and ref conferences. It’s insane how much wasted time there is in those 3.5 hours (especially since commercial TOs are three minutes now in many cases), it just makes it a much more enjoyable watch.
