Not my intent at all, but if you need an explanation, I'll happily render one. Firstly, I deleted my first post after realizing that I was perhaps a bit out of line, for some at least, regarding the conduct of an individual on the field. I frankly reconsidered after your response and deleted it after brief, further thought. I could have been more tasteful or even just said nothing at all - but alas I did not. I spoke in a moment of "irkedness" which I quickly regretted and soon sent to the deep six. Not my finest moment, to be sure. FTR, my icon was a reference to a post that I had already deleted still being the source of further pursuit. But hey, que sera sera. I hope this will suffice.

 

Thanks for correcting me. When they showed him during the game and put his name up, I thought for sure they showed him as a senior and I think one of the announcers even said that. We all deserve to be fact checked to make sure what others read is accurate. So appreciate it.

This was a fun game. It reminded me of the 2009 Sugar Bowl in that the game meant nothing but you had a tight team that liked each other and wanted to go out playing hard but also having a lot of fun and enjoying it.

It was a fun game, (after a very sluggish start), and we haven’t had one of those lately.
Most teams at our at our level have a game scheduled at the tail end of the season to reward the practice players with real playing time, look at a few freshmen who haven’t been able to see the field, rest a few players an extra week who are nicked up and have some fun with a gadget play or two like running big Dez. Glad for Rubio. But, I think Gator Nation was hoping he would be tackled at the one yard line to give Dez a shot at a TD.
Our powers that be need to make better structure of our schedule a priority and that will include dealing with the SEC who seems determined to make our schedule as difficult to navigate as possible.

It was clear early on that Tulane wasn’t going to be competitive in this game. I suppose the overly optimistic fans will say it was a great game, and the perpetually pessimistic will say it was awful (and it was all Napier’s fault.

I think your take is the correct one, it was a “fun” game for the players primarily but also for the fans in attendance. Billy saw this as an opportunity to reward the team,,, lots of players saw players saw action, including walk on’s. Big Dez getting a carry and blocking was a definite highlight. (only a Grinch couldn’t find enjoyment in that moment)

It’s true it was not a great game from an execution point of view. D.J. struggled at times, if not so much statistically, as it was apparent from the stands… in his defense, it seemed obvious he still was not 100%. Costly penalties at the worse possible times, interceptions in the red zone, and an absolutely horrendous officiating crew prevented the game from being an absolute blowout.

Personally I had a wonderful time, great seats in the club section with my son and grandson (who after the Miami game debacle told me we were going to win 8 games, he’s 13 and apparently not as jaded as us “adults”) good food at La Teresita, and a game that was never in doubt.
Fun time about covers it.
