By: Eric Fawcett -- December 16, 2024 After stepping into a challenging road-type environment in Charlotte to take down North Carolina the Florida Gators will have a much more comfortable setting back at home Saturday when they put their undefeated 11-0 record up against the North Florida Ospreys (7-5). There are four teams that remain undefeated in college basketball–Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Drake, and the Gators have an opportunity to outlast some of those teams starting with a buy game against North Florida. I expect a competitive game for a while. UF is bound to have a bit of a letdown after UNC. And UNF is not bad and are looking at this as the one game circled on their calendar.
After beating South Carolina and Georgia Tech I doubt these Birds of Trey will be intimidated by a short drive to Gainesville. Have fun Gator Boyz but don’t lose your focus. Dont get complacent or you will get a bite taken out of your….
Gator football today and hoops tomorrow. Only thing better was Thanksgiving weekend with 2 "Event" basketball wins in O-town (I was there for both) followed by stomping the Noles in football! It's great, to be, a Florida Gator!
Is a “buy” game one in which a team not expected to win and/or plays a team in its region or through some type of connection (like a former coach) for a good payout? (like UF) Never seen that term used.
This is the trap game of all trap games. Another great test of the mindset of this team. The UNC game was a great test of their ability to overcome adversity on the road against a high quality opponent. Now, can they turn around and take care of business at home against a team they should beat by 20?
Probably a game against a lesser opponent that a school pays to come play (covers their travel expenses plus a little). Like cupcakes on football schedules. I think . . .
The Ospreys average more 3 point attempts than any other team. So expect to see a ton of 3’s taken. Just gotta defend the 3 point line and we’ll be fine.
I hope we can put some butts in seats today. Hopefully UF made tickets available to kids' organizations.
