I’ve followed this as well and nobody in my orbit thought Merchan was going to rule any other way and not suprised by this ruling.

I believe that since this deals with his officials duties as POTUS, he is allowed to keep appealing and it can go to federal court up to the SCOTUS. I heard/read that since Trump does have immunity from official acts as POTUS, he is suppose to have the issue of whether something is an official act settled before the trial commenced. So Trump still has the right to appeal this decision to "the New York Appellate Division; even if he loses there, he will then appeal to the state’s highest tribunal, the Court of Appeals, and then perhaps to the U.S. Supreme Court." according to NR's Andy McCarthy.

I think that this might end up being mute as Hochel may step in and pardon him in an effort by Democrats to enter a ceasefire on lawfare with Republicans now that Trump is about to assume office.

Jerk Merchan gave the middle finger salute to the SCOTUS. It's a loser case and is as good as dead. You folks don't get it that Trump won with this decision. The case is DOA when appealed.
