Meanwhile........CBN has been posted up in Tampa, Dallas Wilson Hometown, just cookin. Yall better start to BILLY've. Rumors all over about Wilson is backing out of his NIL and will very likely end up at UF. It's on Oregon's boards, and was just recently reported by a Duck beat writer that Oregon will not continue to fight it and Lanning and staff feel it's better to just part ways at this point. There's some legs to this chatter so let's hope it all.shakes out right
I believe Oregon signed another higher ranked 5 star WR, Wilson is better off with UF, through my Gators glasses of course.
These announcers get fed a few "facts" before each game and try to work them into the broadcast as if they were casual thoughts based on personal knowledge. Happens all the time. Half the time they're taken out of context or just plain wrong. And, the sideline reporter stories... I could care less about any of those. I wish announcers would just talk about the football game.
Interesting post. Fulmer did the "give back" thing you may recall. Norvell doing it is the latest rendition. "I wonder if we see that becoming the new normal with long term deals and coaches not getting results" I suspect you are correct and this "give back" stunt is a creative accounting measure to give an institution an actionable measure short of paying a huge buyout ala Jimbo. The key of course is can a Norvell "or anybody" rally a program quick enough to satisfy the fan base when something like FSU's 2 - 10 debacle happens. I wonder what FSU's fan base "tolerence for pain" will be? Put another way, what kind of record must Norvell acheive to retain his position is 2025? When I watch Warchant's Podcasts, the hard cores among them suggest Norvell needs to go 6 - 6 at thevery least to retain his job, and they are looking for big things in 26. While I hate to associate UF and FSU with anything, I suspect Gator Nation is much like Seminole Nation when it comes to demanding success. I'm already hearing whispers from influential Gators that 9-3 / or Playoffs and bust are required for Napier to survive year 4. I don't find this expectation unresonable in the 4th year of a coaching stint, at a program like Florida's. A bit off topic but personally I don't think the fans demanding immediate or 2nd year turnarounds, (like it was pre NIL/Portal/Realignment) may not apply anymore. Can it be done, yes, but I think the (new coach) foundation and expectations of immediate record turnaround is not quite what it was. Of course all these changes are new and I may be off base simply due to lack of sample size.
They don’t sign LOI’s anymore, just financial paperwork. What’s he need to be released from? if he enrolled, he’d have to transfer. If he hasn’t enrolled, I don’t think there’s anything binding him to oregon, only oregon to him.
UCLA Sturdivant bit: While Florida has become the favorite to land the three-star prospect, he is also expected to visit the University of Georgia at some point in the recruiting process. Florida Named Favorite to Land UCLA Transfer WR
And here is what I've been expecting: Unlimited eligibility for college players. Decide to stay in College 10 years....you get 10 years of eligibility. Now that there might be a payday for athletes good enough for college ball, but not quite practice squad NFL material, there will be players hanging on to that payday like a cling-on.
It was the obvious direction this whole mess is headed. The second the courts got involved in transfer eligibility and the NCAA caved, this was always just one of the next notches on the grip.
Yep... This is 100% on the NCAA and universities. The players have been asking for some type of equitable compensation for 100 years. The NCAA/universities told them to pound sand. We’ll make billions, coaches will get 10’s of millions of dollars and we’ll give you what we feel like. Players said okie dokie, we’ll go to court. Well, the worm has turned. If I’m the players, I take everything I can get. Not one cent less. Treat them like they treated you.
