A lot of BS about amounts.

One thing I trust is Napier won't sacrifice team unity and allow unreasonable situations to bring on water. Not easy I'm sure.

And LSU has that Underwood money to spend. They are definitely gonna be buyers in the portal.

There are 5 ILB on the team that I would pay more than Pyburn, but that is just my opinion. I'm sure Pyburn wouldn't agree. How crucial was his contribution to justify top dollar? He had some great effort plays and a lot of failures at other times. He wasn't a clear top 5 on the team for the year.

60 tackles though will be hard to replace. He was always in the contact

Not sure these players put an appropriate value on fans and followers. Pyburn went from being a well thought of historic Gator player to despised by the fan base. LSU isn't going to fall in love with a one-year hired gun. Therefore his name, image, and likeness for his college football years is sort of pathetic. I guess if he gets to the NFL he can build some new fans there because I doubt any Gator or Tiger fans will give a s**t.

Most of the speculation here regarding Pyburn’s departure seems reasonable to me. But I think Austin Armstrong’s departure plays big into Pyburn’s decision.
The fact that Pyburn seemed like he was so bought-in and happy to be a Gator coupled with the enthusiasm and motor he showed just doesn’t fit with him leaving for more money and the supposed demand for more playing time. Hard to believe CBN wouldn’t assure him a competitive salary and no coach in his right mind would guarantee playing time. I think he was close to AA and shaken to the core that he was leaving.
Leaving UF for Houston is not a lateral move by any stretch and a pay cut from 1.3 million to 750 thousand, is significant. There is some hurt feelings and pride involved here and it would have an effect on a guy like Pyburn.

Wouldn't he have just followed AA to Houston then? I think it was more about $$. Only the parties know the amounts discussed and I think most of us have no problem with Pyburn asking for more, but the counteroffer must of been miles apart with Pyburn's camp for him to take to social media like he did.

And, remember this isn't just the decision of a 20-21 year old. He's being advised by parents and presumably an agent trying to get a payday as well.

I, for one, am sorry he left. He may not be first round NFL material, but its fun to watch someone who really loves contact and the game of football. He'll do well at LSU.

He'll love them crazy ass coonasses. Probably fit right in. Change his name to Jackaroo Thibadeaux Pighbourne.

I say this respectfully, but we can make up any narrative we want without knowing what really goes on behind closed doors. For what it's worth there have been purported rumors from TOS that a couple players confirmed it was about money.

Yeah me too. I can’t get into the ‘don’t let the door…’ attitude on this one. Hate seeing a great thing destruct like this. #44 was one of my favorites on our D. Can’t stop thinking this could have been avoided

And if everyone at a position is close in numbers and somebody wants a lot more.... gotta hit the door.

Worrying about what could have been won't change anything. He made his decision, and now he's gator bait.

I wouldn't go that far. He may have gotten his leg caught in someone's trap and had to gnaw it off.

It was ALL about the money, nothing else. Pyburn and his parents are all big Gators.

Pyburn's NFL prospects are uncertain, so I guess he needed to take the bird in hand now. I really like the guy, and am disappointed that he left, but put yourself in his shoes. Get paid $400k now, or gamble on an NFL future? That's a tough decision.

I hate this crap, NIL and the portal, but it is what it is. And I honestly think Pyburn will come to regret his decision to turn his back on his Gator legacy. Lots of Gator friends and future connections may not be there down the road.
