Not to mention the defender was Martin. One of the strongest senior guards around & he went flying. At least on the missed moving screen the ball didn’t lie as they missed the front end of the 1 & 1…
In general, I really liked her. Very knowledgeable, good voice, didn't go off on too many football playoff tangents, kept up with the action. But I too was sick of all the UNC pumping from the whole broadcast. Sometimes it feels like the producers control a bunch of the in-game "spots" and the producers (and perhaps Jumpman, and thus Jordan) sent down the memo. Wish we had someone on the board that's in the business, to teach us about how this all really works.
Weak. We have a huge GUT CHECK win and the thread is filled with the standard complaints…..refs and announcers are “rooting” for the opponent . (They were called for more fouls than us, but please, continue) You know the same announcers said endless complimentary things about UF, basically all game. It’s crazy how you hear what you want to hear.
Haugh, Condon and Chinyelu played tough and well enough but I thought one or two of them would have their way with the smaller heels front court. Although They were double and triple teamed, and fouled a lot. It bothered their scoring. A good learning experience. Looking forward to seeing their development.
I had to rewind that play twice because it was so blatantly obvious he pushed off with his forearm to “make space”. How that wasn’t called in real time is a head-scratcher. In the end we won and that’s all the matters. 11-0. Next….
It’s one of those situations where the smaller undersized guy is given more leeway when defending the bigger guy, so often gets away with fouls. We won’t see many undersized teams in the SEC
Called for more fouls doesn’t mean they didn’t commit a hell of a lot more than we did, and a lot of even Golden after the game in the radio intrview said they were “handsy” and got away with a lot of fouls that weren’t called. Just because the foul totals are even or in our favor doesn’t mean the actual amount of fouls were even. But yes, it was a gutsy win and we should all be happy, I agree.
All I know is UF is celebrating W #11, while NC got smoked on what amounts to a home court setting and who are sitting around contemplating a 5th loss in 11 games.
I watched the ESPN game recap in long form, the five minute long one...I thought I was watching the NC feed. Went back and counted. 29 NC scoring plays were highlighted, 17 Florida plays. Obviously the crowd shots, and then the announcers, and the refs calling it one sided, you'd think for sure NC had blown our doors off watching the highlights. Then it cuts to the 90-84 UF final shot...it was so entirely one-sided, just an ESPN hit job.
By the way, NC is now entering the soft phase of their schedule, their conference should give them a chance to beef up that record so they can get a five seed and get waxed by a 12 in the tournament.
Condo did a good job on the boards, but we needed to get him working in the paint on some hook shots or something. He could have gotten lots of good shots off down low. To UNC's credit, their quickness stymied a lot of what we wanted to do.
My god, other people have noticed that about Jesse, lol. I can hardly listen to him on UF games because of this.
He made some good inside shots against Virginia. Not so much in the last two games, but I do love his 3 pointers.
And still we did what we do. We go on runs, completely dominate the game, and win going away. Down the stretch we outscored them 13-3 and outrebounded them 8-1. Anyone having a problem with that, just STFU.
Typical ESPN in Conn., They need Florida Alumni managing the Game day programming. Of course, southerners don’t fit in the control of that, NE football and now basketball, baseball, are dominated by the SEC. Hate…. Wait, why didn’t we play them in Gainseville?
I know that and it helps North Carolina basketball. They could move the game to a warmer climate and give teams a fun break and even up the fan bases, but I know, they won’t.
