Went to my first Army-Navy game. In Landover, outside of DC, home of Washington Commanders. My thoughts and opinions:

1- The stadium opened in 1998 and appears to be much older considering its "finishes", width of aisles, seats, etc. There are actual columns that block view of some seats like it was built like Detroit Tigers MLB stadium of long ago.

2- The pregame is far better than what tv shows. The way the cadets and midshipmen go in and start rocking is great to see.

3- It sounds like the entire stadium, as in every single fan, knows all the words to the National Anthem.

4- The fans are great, regardless of whose side one is on. There is mutual respect, but not overly kind. Some good natured razzing.

5- Pregame, both sides have students meet at mid field, each wears a letter on its back, in large letters. Army said: AACChamps Navy said: GotJets?

6- There is singing during game of several popular songs by both sides, like Dont Stop Believing, Sweet Caroline, etc.

7- There was a huge roar of cheering during a time out for the POTUS-Elect when that box was shown on the jumbo screens.

8-Uber/Lyft after game is a mess.

9-Crazy Prices- 2 hot chocolates with a shot of Baileys was $41.

10-Lines to restrooms....you'd think that would have been thought thru by 1998.

11- All cadets and midshipmen are required to go to all home games and this one. As in "all". They number about 9000 total combined.

Thanks for the report! A good Army buddy's son is currently in his second year at West Point. I'm hoping to make my first Army-Navy game with my friend by the time he graduates.

Thanks. Great report. Want to go to that game myself. Also want to see a Army home game. The stadium sits near the Hudson River and the view is supposed to be beautiful.

Haven't made the game yet, but it's on the list. Was in DC area last Saturday. The hotel had several Army fans/families. Up early and watched moms and dads checking over their sons/cadets uniforms and getting ready for the day. Happy to have been an onlooker and just experience their pride - both in cadet and country.

I have some advice should you ever pull the trigger and attend an Army-Navy game. Dress warm. It truly is a gameday experience and it pays to get there early to see the Corps and Brigade march on. I have been to quite a few and it is definitely worth the effort to go.

The game is always played in large neutral stadium. The game is a huge money maker for both schools.

This replay shows a bit of the pomp before the game.

Great info Shelby! thanx for sharing...My nephew in law is a freshman cadet at Westpoint in the spirit band....My side of the family have a long history with the Navy so I always cheer for them, but couldn't be more proud of my nephew getting accepted...I've been to quite a few Gator games in my life, but would love to see an Army/Navy game if the opportunity were to arise.
