One would hope that ending the season on a bit of a high, we would be able to to continue this trend through the bowl and off season but truthfully it been everything but . players , coaches leaving is starting to really piss me off . I just don’t understand it !
You dont understand that this is normal for a non-championship season? Wanna see momentum...waiting to see if CBN gives up a part of his salary like Kelly and Norvell have to prop up the university having share revenue with the students.
You don't understand it? You were telling the guys to go get paid in other threads. Money before anything right?
What I was trying to say I expected players in the portal to be coming our way . Yeah it’s capitalism at its best . I get that but I was hoping we would get our share . But thx for the fact check. Looking forward to to you adding something with some substance one of these days.
Wing, Gator Nation is getting fidgety about the lack of Portal commits. It is being discussed extensively by Gator Podcasters. Based on what I'm hearing, Billy doesn't just "pop and sign" guys when they first declare for the portal, irregardless of stats. He prefers to evaluate. So a bunch of the "experts" are saying, remain calm, it's coming. The other issue is the bowls and playoffs. Many potential Portal guys are waiting to declare entry. Lastly, it was not until APRIL, (or thereabouts) that CBN picked up the two stud wide receivers out of the portal that have done so well for UF. On a somewhat related note, IMO, UF does not seem to pursue the highest ranked guys / former 5 stars. Whether this is penny wise and pound foolish, remains to be seen, but UF seems little interested in buying the highest rated transfer portal guys. Or HS studs either, for that matter.
I aspire to one day be able to contribute one of your patented exclamatory drive by sentences you're known for!!!
Gator nation is fidgety about everything including things that will never occur and things that make little difference. I’m thinking fans know too much or not enough but little that is factual. It’s great to be passionate but the gnashing of teeth over events that occur with every team is not useful, in my opinion. Understanding the logic of some fans is like a sine wave; on top of the world one week and jumping off the ledge mere weeks later.
I agree totally Jim, which is why I created my thread about "For all you Naysayers..." (now locked). I have all the same emotions as all those fidgety guys, it's just that I don't run to the keyboard to spill out my guts on how wretched I feel at the moment!
I've noticed Jim. Sports are wild. I'm up here in Philly and the local ESPN talking heads do nothing but piss and moan about the 12-2 Eagles (winners of 10 straight) just don't win "pretty enough", don't run enough, don't pass enough, hell they don't do anythng enough.....except win. I know Gator Nation is much the same. I harken back to 12-0 2009 UF. The offense sucked, yada yada yada. After the last 15 seasons I have come to take it more in stride. Passionate still yes, but I will forever be satisfied with a 2 - 0 SEC championship win, (or any game) if and when that may ever occur!
I like getting great portal players too, but remember, most of the best players are still on teams that are playing in the playoffs. The chatter is we're looking for the best... and 'the best' are still playing for other teams.
I doubt I'm alone in not being worried at all. Our roster is improving and We've reached a place where we can be choosy in the portal, and this staff evaluates well.
Fidgety, because while derp evaluations into our portal purchases, said purchasee is already driving a yellow Lambo
We also need to keep the players that we have on the team, so there's that housekeeping going on too.
