There are certainly a couple of DE/Edges that could be classified as potential over production (in 2024). Perhaps Pyburn took exception to being offered less NIL than one or more of them. In most employment situations, that is a sure-fire way of losing an over-performing worker.

When there is money involved, it could be anyone at any position. Not necessarily the edge.
Again- I have no clue. i'm just going by the little that I know.

But a current starter who by all accounts bleeds orange and blue goes to a hated rival???
It feels like jealousy/ money to me, not a cold, calculated business decision.
And again, I think he'll regret this.

Where Pyburn will be missed is blowing up the counter and us Gator fans have seen that run play be successful against way too often in prior years. He had become truly exceptional at smashing that pulling OL to bottle up the play. He was also quick off the ball in short yardage where he could sell out on the run.

IMO, his main drawback was that he's a true tweener now. That's part of the reason I liked him was that he maximized the athletic ability he has, but he isn't an elite DE size/quickness/strength nor has the lateral movement to be an OLB. Great player to have on a team who will give 100% though. He'll get on the field for LSU. Just hope we don't try to run the counter on him. LOL.

Our roster is improving every year. The class next year will be stellar.

was he being recruited to UF more by coach Chaos or Chatman? I think his relationship was with Chaos, though I am often wrong.

I thought he was being recruited by Coach Dollar Dollar Bill. We still got him on staff.

The comments linked to Pyburn about starting and playing on 3rd downs is the link to his sheepishness about compitition.

Money is king, but depth chart watching is a big part of transfers, too.

Yep... I agree and me too. Just going by the little info I have access to.

It definitely sounds like feelings are involved.

I don't buy the playing demands just yet though. Never heard the source of those. I mean I could see it I guess because if a player or their parents think their kid needs certain terms to showcase talent to get them to the league that seems consistent with today's me first athletes/families but again...where did all that come from. I posted in another thread where Gator players reportedly didn't bash pyburn but also mentioned matter of factly that it was about money.

I don't think anyone is discounting him as a player. I think we just have an understanding of the situation.

He’s very useful, I think everyone wishes he stayed at UF. But, there’s still a lot of talent at edge and CBN will definitely add to the position.

It sucks for sure. Decesions have to be made and his position has other players.

That's fair. One of the few comments he's made about the situation was him mocking the reported starting request on his X account. "I'm already the starter".

For some reason, I'm mostly buying into his reported requests to stay at UF. I normally don't buy into the negative stuff, but in this situation it rings true to me. Maybe not all of it, but the tone of it for sure. It's definitely not a straight business decision. He is/was clearly upset, to some degree, about the situation.

Being used for your top qualit
He is a great situational player, but in other situations James and McCray and Gumbs are better. How many of them can we afford? CBN knows better than us. Pyborn could be the one thing LSU's defense is sorely missing more than ours, or they just have more money to throw around.
