I went to their message board and they were talking about those games and how frustrating it was that the qb kept handing off the ball to the middle. They are hypothesizing that he didn't want to get hurt because he had already decided to leave.
So Ty Thompson will get the start and is a very good running threat at QB, which has caused us problems in the past. Does losing Pyburn make this worse?
The Gators should roll over Tulane as easily as rolling down a two-lane highway. The first game I listened to when I started following the Gators (I was in high school) was when they beat Tulane 34-14 in 1958. Don Deal scored a couple of TDs. He was the real deal. My brother was at UF, couldn't go to the game, and asked me to listen to it for him. I got hooked on Otis Boggs. You might say I got Bogged down on the Gators that day.
Didn’t know you were that old coco, I was there: my first Gator game and I was 13 years old. I related that in a previous post, but I will add this. Don Deal became my new “favorite Gator” because he had a great game, including a long touchdown run down the east sideline. After football season was over my senior year of high school, a buddy of mine who knew I was a big Gator fan caught me in the hall and said “hey, the new drivers ed teacher played football for the Gators”. It turned out to be Deal. I looked him up and expected to see Superman instead of a rather ordinary human being. Drivers Ed was new to our school then and I already had my license anyway but, Mr Deal and I had a good football conversation. And he is still one of my all time favorites.
And, thank God, Puerto Rico doesn’t ascribe to daylight savings time… My woman convinced me to come to San Juan this week for the annual Christmas party she throws for her office - on Friday 12/20. (I committed before we got our bowl bid) Being a fun loving Latina, she convinced me in short order to extend my trip to include three parties on Thursday, Friday, Saturday… As luck would have it, the Friday party was a luncheon at her office and since Puerto Rico is an hour delayed from DST, the game will start at 4:30 for me. I informed her that Friday was going to be a stay at home night for us - starting circa 4:30 standard daylight time
Ty Thompson 36-40 for 482 yards 6 tds and another 120 yards on the ground for 2 more scores....staking his claim as early Heisman candidate for 2025. Dont worry about Pyburns loss worry about the backup QB being the backup QB. Backup QBs against us are virtual certainties to have the best day of their career when they play us...
I heard a story about Don Deal back when he was playing for the Gators. I heard that he was in some Gainesville drinking establishment one night and announced that he was Don Deal and he could whip anybody in the place. I don't know if anything transpired or not.
I hate to tell you but daylight savings time ended first week in November. We are on Standard time now.
