Agree about every other year for Alabama, but this year they were still on the cusp of being the 12th team even though there were multiple teams more deserving. That is a bias based on previous years, not this year, and that is a bad thing.

They had some better wins than teams that are in and bad losses. Indiana is in and they dont have a legit win.

My barber is a lifelong Marshall fan and he was telling me that the admin didn't want him back bc they were mad he interviewed at another school, but he was upset that they hadn't already offered him a contract extension.

sounds like when BC fired Jeff Jagazinski bc he interviewed with the Jets when they told him not to and he did. Surprisingly neither he not BC football have recovered from that

Yeah, South Park from 30 years ago truly skated on the edge of decency. They attacked everyone from pediphiles to the Klan.

The problem with this is that apparently the players forgot that they "supposedly" went to Marshall to get an education. A free one, at that.

Some of these portal protesters won't be good enough to get an offer from another school. I wonder if they will be allowed to slink back onto the Marshall team once they wake-up and smell the coffee.

Skated on the edge?? They cannonballed through the ice with a dump truck. It's not for everyone but it was pretty funny. They always talked about the 600 pound gorilla in the room which was actually refreshing even if uncomfortable.

Norvell's commitment now includes a restructured contract that includes a one-time $4.5 million contribution that will launch the athletic department’s Vision of Excellence campaign, the Tallahassee Democrat has learned.

Hmmm, just for the sake of conversation: Are we to believe that Norvell's 4.5 million "contribution" is soley based on Mike Norvell's
love for and generosity to FSU? I mean this would have nothing to do with any "future" contract negotiations regarding his present and future employment status would it?

At the risk of sounding really petty, watching FSU free-fall into football purgatory helped me keep my sanity following CBN's Gators this third year.

Despite the many issues that confronted UF this year, the Gators managed to pull 7 wins out of the hat, compared to FSU's 2.
Not to mention beating them down 31-11 at the erector set.

I will also readily admit it was rather nice seeing Alabama and Miami left out of the playoffs.

I'm looking forward to the Tulane game, but I do find it a bit concerning that so many fans seem to want to mark this one up as an auomatic "W". Tulane has played damn good football the last two years. One of the Tulane QB's said he is going to play for the Green Wave against the Gators. Not sure if thats the starting QB or second unit QB guy.

Point being, CBN needs the "W" to keep the momentum going for the Transfer Portal and the upcoming 2025 Spring and Fall.

It also mentions Norvell can earn back the "contribution" thru performance incentives.....so in other words he didn't contribute anything, he just was forced to alter his contract to include incentives since they were so awful this year.

I think we're very much in a transitional era in NIL and really a balancing. Jimbo Fisher, and many other coaches, have proven without a doubt that paying coaches contracts in the range of 10 year, $95M while playing the players nothing is the biggest mismatch between contribution and reward that exists in America.

Meyer should have made a nominal amount more than, say, Tebow, Harvin, Spikes made combined. Reggie Bush should have made at least as much as assistant coaches at USC. Cam Newton should have made more than Malzahn at Auburn. If that was false, then the demand and pay for NFL QBs wouldn't be so much higher than head coaches.

I expect what is happening at FSU to become much more common, and then I expect the market to correct a bit for players once boosters and fans get tired of handing over money directly to players and then never get to where they were promised. Here's hoping we're able to navigate all of it without any more dips below 7 or 8 wins.

Tulane is definitely going to be a test. They're a beneficiary of the other part of it which is the great flattening of talent across the sport. They're just as close to us talent wise as we are to LSU and Ole Miss, who we beat.

That money is contributed and they need it to help with revenue sharing. The money that would be later paid to him in incentives is a commitment in addition to that, and exactly like how CU admitted they paid Deion, with success will come additional revenue and that will be used to pay Norvell. College HC's are literal CEOs now. Their product is wins and they need to generate business.

As stated in the article, they're going to make a "a one-time $4.5 million contribution that will launch the athletic department’s Vision of Excellence campaign" which will be the fund that handles the $20m revenue sharing allowed. What will likely happen is they roll contributions up into the same pool as TV revenue sharing so less of the money that currently funds the department has to be rerouted to the players. Then, as they have a baseline budget between TV and booster contributions, they can better forecast additional earnings and earmark a percent of that profit into coach incentives.
