Then why not his? It was utterly irrelevant and all I did was make that point, in a snarky way. But still. . . Why are we protecting people from their own stupidity? If you post something stupid, you should have to back that up or suffer the consequences.
Do posts that mock and laugh at federal employees because Trump won count? I’m not referring to the “merits” of shrinking the Federal bureaucracy here. I’m talking about very personal attacks.
They don't want us to explain moderation too much here, but prefer it through PMs. But I'll explain: Yes, his comment was pointless as are most of the "But Trump ..." and "But Biden ..." deflections that fill the board. Your response to him was personal and derogatory. Rather than letting that turn into a personal back-and-forth, I deleted it.
10-4. Thanks for the explanation. That said, doesn't a post that stupid deserve some derision? And was my snark in this case (peanut gallery) really that bad. . . or even inaccurate?
I think I made it clear. You say this about him, he comes back and says that about you ... and so it goes.
Calling an individual poster an idiot, stupid or moron is unacceptable. Saying an individual is part of a group that is collectively and universally a bunch of idiots, morons or stupid is acceptable. it is good to have principles and red lines.
Your second paragraph won't work. Because everyone associated with a certain group are not idiots, morons or stupid. You can say you don't agree with the beliefs of the Catholic Church, but you can't say Catholics are idiots.
This is your chance to test it! Suggest that it’s because, while none of the moderators are individually idiots, they all belong to a group who collectively are! (Sorry mods, hope you all can give me a free pass on that particular low-hanging joke.)
We do when we think it impacts a particular poster. If I knew you lived in Orlando and someone replied to one of your posts saying that everyone in Orlando was an idiot I would delete it.
I think the concern is that there is some concern that those of certain political spectrums are granted a lot more lenience on this. Now, that may be entirely our perception and inaccurate. I do know that I’ve been told to “get therapy” or folks mocking me for potentially losing my job in the new Administration. I ended up just blocking the members.
Does that mean you will put an end to the all "libs/dems are communists" nonsense we constantly endure? There are many here who put all liberals or Democrats into some very unflattering categories.
I work for the Federal government in a role that, while defined by the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, is still regulatory and nature and evidently a target for DOGE. Mind you, even our industry partners are alarmed about discussions about eliminating offshore permitting. It’s irresponsible. It’s not just about me, though. It’s about thousands of families who are potentially being arbitrarily canned so that billionaires can bypass or eliminate laws and regulations. In some cases, it simply feels like extremely malicious trolling. I will absolutely concede that the government needs to run more efficiency, but it’s not a business and shouldn’t be run as one. See how badly our privatized healthcare system works compared to single-payer systems elsewhere. It’s a service. I’ve mentioned in other threads where I see issues and what I’d do to address them. Note: I’m on leave for Christmas because I didn’t take my annual leave through the year. The government has a “use or lose” policy over a certain number of hours. Given that leave is compensation and I don’t like leaving money on the table…
