La. Tech to replace Marshall in bowl vs. Army Louisiana Tech is replacing Marshall in bowl game. From the article: As of Saturday morning, Marshall has 36 players in the transfer portal, including 29 scholarship players and 17 players on the team's two-deep for the Sun Belt title game. All three Thundering Herd quarterbacks who played this season are in the portal, including starter Braylon Braxton, the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year. Defensive end Mike Green, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, declared for the NFL draft Friday. A number of Marshall staff members also have left, some joining Huff at Southern Miss.
Exactly like I just said with my short, less impressive response. Lol. Just wait, with the help from my kids I'll soon be able to type your whole response using like 7 letters. Real talk tho, It drives me crazy with the 3 and 4 letter abbreviations for everything, but I've enlisted the help of 3 professional teen slang translators. (My 3 teen girls) IYKYK
To be fair, #5 is dictated by the fact the last 4-5 has been a sh*t show for our team. Hard to get great players when we can't count numbers of players on the field at any one time. If the good vibes of the end of 2024 season carry over and we play well in 2025 perhaps a few 5* will start looking our way to play with Lagway in '26. And with the Portal, we could always snag some former 5* that just don't like their current team's direction.
Not like this. If things don't change, we'll be watching the same 4-5 teams battle it out for the championship every year. About 10 different teams won a NC over the 20 seasons prior to NIL/transfer portal.
Yet bama, Georgia, osu have locked down the too three for years. Now with nil, a couple others are getting top 5 classes consistently. Teams like Michigan get one here or there but it's basically been the same teams in tge playoffs pretty consistently.
Nope, just say no to the congress... they for sure will finish destroying college football as we still know it.
The one tway to fix this madness is by making "portaling" a one time transfer rule, unless you are a graduate transfer, then you can leave to go play anywhere. Maybe make one exception as a freshman, but with the caviate that you have to stay with your fist school the whole year if you sign out of high school. That way the siging kids from high school STILL means something. Until that gets fixed, we will see more of this insanity fester in college football.
It doesn't help that the playoffs committee has the yearly bias for Alabama, OSU, and Notre Dame regardless of anything else. I was glad Alabama got left out... but they shouldn't have even been in the running this year.
Emma has been there because they the best team of the last decade, but they earned their spot on the bench this year
Okay I'll be the one to say it. You would think that Marshall, of all schools, would know what it's like to lose most of your whole team. I'm not against protesting but if they all leave what progress have they made.
Yes, unity can be used for positive and negative results. All of this is yet to be determined. For the players, I hope their unity rewards them with a coach they all want to come back and play for. In this day and age of portal talk, it seems like most of them are probably leaving, thus departing and going their separate ways and breaking down the Marshall traditions.
This is reminiscent of when Joe Paterno would donate a million of his salary every year to academics. He was so ethical. lol He loved everyone especially his nambla assistant coach.
Marshall coach Charles Huff left for the same post at Southern Miss a day after the Sun Belt title game after being unable to reach an agreement with the school on a new contract. Maybe you can interpret not reaching a new agreement as firing but they did finish 10-3 and won the Sun Belt conference championship.
