Who will hit the portal?

Well, that's kind of what I was thinking. He's been playing a lot lately, gotten lots of fan appreciation, and was assumed to be set up to carry that forward into next year. No coach should offer guaranteed playing time. Ever. That has to be earned on a weekly basis or there is no incentive to perform and improve. This had to be monetary.

 

Dude also put out jilted lover song lyrics, this entire thing was a mess starting with that. Players come and go from the portal, but taking shots at the staff and university as you enter the portal was going to yield some response if applicable.

Hurt dogs will holler or something like that.

Look at all the other portal players going out. Zero drama (I think?). This is entirely on Jack casting the first stone. No one else is gathering this type of pointless drama on their way out.

I get this is how it is but didn’t see that one coming. Crazy to think you were given a chance by someone and they helped you get better and you’re like sorry about ya I’m leaving, cruel world of college football now a days. Same goes for Pyburn really.

Nonsense. You've got it all wrong.

The problem is that we have gone to a professional model, without any of the rules and contractual obligations of a professional model. Professional players can't bounce from team to team every year for more money. NFL rules and contractual obligations prohibit that.

NIL in college has zero rules, and no contracts that obligate the kids to do much of anything other than staying in school.

It is absurd. No professional sport, I mean none, would tolerate such a system.

 

A simple non-compete clause requiring NCAA and University sign off would end the shenanigans. Anyone who has ever dealt with the NCAA “timeliness” knows this means they’re sitting for a while.

This is a good reminder of why we should, until the current system changes, keep our mouths shut when players declare for the portal. Assume they are doing what they think is best at the moment and wish them thanks for all they have done. Too much of which we are unaware impacting their decision making. Plus, we cannot decry a Gator hitting the portal in one breath and then welcome a portal transferee with the next breath. Job 1:21
