VF - 84 Jolly Rogers, Fighter Squadron was assigned to Carrier Airwing Eight onboard CVN - 68 USS Nimitz. They shot down Libian aircraft in the Gulf of Sidra 1981. Current squadron is VFA 103
Congratulations to Navy on a well earned victory over Army. My incredible career Navy dad is smiling above with a glass of Whiskey and big cigar. The singing of their Alma mater 1st & 2nd, together. One of the best traditions in college football.
The Navy uniform honored the famous 'Jolly Rogers' squadron, which dated from WW II as VF-61. Every Navy player wears a different military unit patch on their uniform. Horvath chose that unit's emblem to honor his grandfather's service.
I'm an old Army man, but I sure do love the USN. When it comes to taking the fight to the enemy, the gallant sailors of Taffy Squadron and all the other myriad heroes of the Pacific War take a back seat to no one. They richly deserve our undying gratitude and remembrance - forever. Go Navy!
Here are some highlights. It would be nice to have an offense that looked more like Navy's.....which takes full advantage of Hovath's skills and playing style! Kinda reminds me of Lags!
Huge win for Navy. I was not expecting such a large margin of victory, actually I had Army winning this one. I have really come to enjoy watching the service academies play ball.
