Rejoice! The unqualified Mr 700 has finally moved on. Clearly Roberts took over post-A&M (the lack of coverage breakdowns was a dead give away) and the defense turned around at that point. I understand Napier keeping Mr 700 after last year because it looks bad firing DC's in your first 2 years. This was the best move BN could do.

Yep, that's what's great around here. You come for the panty bunching, but you stay for the hand wringing.

Well he left so time to move on. He was calling the shots last year when we went 5-7

not exactly the info you are asking/talking about but reporter on 247 (are they journalists?) stated Armstrong moving on was not expected. The expectation was that Robert’s would be moving on and Armstrong leaving may now change that. Claims the players absolutely love Armstrong. Quite the claim and interesting tidbit…the rest of the defensive coaches don’t like Roberts.

Even Implicated that either Roberts was to move on or expect a combination of Peterson, Chatman, and Harris to look for other opportunities due to Roberts. (Roberts was not liked by the Auburn coaches as well and was a major reason he “left” Auburn).

Would anyone believe the reports? Or just call the reporters trolls? Seriously.

You know for having supposedly a crappy coaching staff it seems like every school wants them

If what the reporter on 247 stated is accurate it gives me an uneasy feeling.
I liked the AA hire from the get-go, but his defense’s performance was less than impressive at first. I felt like he was getting on job training but, would evolve into a good/great coach.
How much of the turnaround the defense experienced after the first bye week is Robert’s doing is something we may or may not ever know. Hate it but, like GatorKnight said, he left so time to move on.
PS: Wonder if Pyburn’s decision had anything to do with AA leaving.

ADs across the country will be taking a hard look at their operating budgets with an additional $20M+ expense line coming for the House settlement starting next year. Have heard Gator beat reporters state as much on Gator podcasts. Losing a Co-DC may possibly have been part of that, but it's speculative on my part.

i have no idea if AA leaving impacted Pyburn…i did see several sources post that Pyburn (and others) were contacted by their former coach, Spencer (“coach Chaos”) before he entered the portal. A little tampering? He supposedly reached out to Sapp, Pyburn, and a few more. And lo and behold, shortly after Pyburn entered the portal he set up a visit to the Aggies.

This is another reason why I have never liked co DC's. No one is sure who is doing what. As for AA leaving it maybe money, possibly calling his own shots. What i do know is there know there is less pressure at UH that at UF.

Yes. Spencer has gone out of his way to hurt us by stealing, or trying to steal our players. I think, no evidence just my thought, he and Corey Raymond were bad attitudes and tried to spread discontent among the players. Hiring guys like Will Harris was a 1,000% upgrade.

Roberts was calling all season...and he might be gone too.
Imo the kids just figured some things out, the DT started playing MUCH better, guys like Bridges and Thornton stepped up, Gumbs went from being lost to a threat, etc etc. Rarely is there a single light switch that turns everything on

Something happened during that bye week. Maybe practices were a lil' tougher and the defensive playbook was simplified, to allow them to just play football. Beat your man for 3 downs and get the F off the field.
Even when starters went down, backups still played like they had been gettin' 1st team reps all season.

Excellent logic. It was postulated that Napier wanted Robert's to
Seems like it was a combination of things. Including a "team meeting" of sorts which included coaches. It's a journey.

Idk who gets the credit for our amazing turnaround. Maybe both DCs or maybe it was the players. Or all.
    One thing I do know.
The University of Florida deserves a top 5 Defensive Coordinator. With the money we have, the history etc.
Clemson got Venables right before their big run started and we got Stoops in 95.
There’s simply no reason we shouldn’t get a top notch guy.

I didn't care then and as a fan I don't care now but 2 coordinators didn't seem to be a problem when we had strong and Mattison. Just saying.
