I know adults that have melted down over less. He wants to be a Gator and someone put in his head an idea of what is “fair” that didn’t fit our definition. I don’t know if that was aTm, an agent, or a family member, but he clearly believed he was entitled to demand more than our staff was willing to give. So being told “no, good luck,” can induce a visceral reaction when it goes against what you believe is right. When he demands the same of other programs, someone is either going to agree with his view or he will get a valuable lesson in understanding your worth in a market economy. I won’t pass judgment on the kid, I’ll just be glad social media has no record of my youthful adventures and possibly missteps.
Yeah I haven't disparaged him although I'm not a fan of the optics. There are ways about getting what your market value is and I don't fault kids for getting theirs but there is a cost when doing so as well.
I don't get the song lyrics thing especially if you haven't ruled out a return. Seems like a weird way to prop a door open. Update on Jack Pyburn, who is still considering a return to Florida Gators Online spoke Thursday with Pyburn’s camp, which made it clear that his move was not over the money and more about getting assurances on increasing his overall snap count as well as his usage in third-down situations.
Scooby and aTm thought it was a great idea for him to come to aTm for '24, and it didn't benefit him as to pt and stats. I hope he got a nice bag.
Surely there are teams that have a less crowded and less talent edge rooms that need him more than we do. We will miss him but he may have a more prominent role elsewhere. If he thinks he has a future on Sundays, it could be a good decision to leave. I think i would stay with my boys and compete.
Lately you can't post quickly enough to answer these questions correctly. He needs to think about this because supposedly OL make decent money in college. Although he is an AP AllAmerican he didn't even make coaches' AllSEC. That smacks of him being a great technician but not most physically gifted, so who knows where he might go in the draft. In comparison, Torrence was an obvious top draft pick, physically and technically and stoned Georgia's early first round DT. He probably made a lot of NFL money playing one year in the SEC.
Exactly, learning your not as valuable as you think you are can be humbling. Noone is as valuable as they think they are.
We don't know yet. It would be cool to get a bunch of staying announcements over the next week. But remember when guys would wait until after a bowl to announce? Seems like another lifetime.
Pyburn was one of my favorite players this year, but he and his “camp” can take a hike and stick the NIL $$ where the sun don’t shine. Even if he comes back now, every down he’s in there we’ll all be thinking “Is there someone better that should be in there on this play?”
Yep, my own uninformed opinion is that negotiations by Jack's camp and the University spun badly out of control, with one side demanding ridiculous guarantee's and the other side not enjoying a finger getting waved in it's face, being dictated too, and decided to let "undisclosed' sources have a little information to make Jack P's seat 'Hot" in the court of public opinion.
What a joke. You enter the portal, you’re gone. I hate this new CFB. If they bring him back I’ll be pissed, it’s gross
If that were true he could’ve just not entered the portal after trying to get what he wanted. Yet he still did. In no circumstance should he be brought back but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was allowed to come back
College Football is oxymoronic for me. I 100% agree with you, "I HATE THIS NEW CFB". Why? let me count the ways: 1) Has become NFL light with unrestricted Free Agency. 2) Has become the sole playground of the rich and powerful, the proletarian masses will be led around by a cattle "nose-ring" and told to keep our mouths shut and enjoy what is offered. 3) Bowls are destroyed, traditional college matchups and rivalries destroyed, (how ya'll like playing TN in November)? 4) Free Agency and talent Aquisition is "an Auction". 5) Look at UF ESD "5 Star" talent aquisition. Anybody around here happen to notice UF does not seem interested in bidding for these players, (or are just getting out-bid), or put more specifically, how many of these 5 Star targets is UF bringing home since NIL went into effect. 6) Programs are re-investing in infrastructure, think stadiums, to reduce seating capacities, add more luxury boxes, and to surround rich football donor slobs, with plenty of hostesses, caviar, liquor, and who knows what else. Seriously, whats it cost a UF family of four, from Pensacola, to buy tickets, make travel arrangements, stay in Gainesville for a couple of nights and go home? For the proletarians among you, such as myself, whats that run? $1,000 a piece and thats if you eat at In and Out.
When the fans of once great programs finally realize that their team has little to no shot of winning another natty under the current format, they'll turn their back on this crappy product. It'll take a few years of watching the same teams battling it out in January for it to sink in, but it will.
