has named Donald Trump as their Man of the Year. Love it for 2 reasons. 1- He deserves it 2- it drives libs batshit crazy
Makes sense given the nature of the award. He joins a long list of malign but important actors who have been given the same title (Stalin, Hitler, and Khomeini all received this title as well).
Its actually "person of the year." Its gender neutral, and uses they/them pronouns. Congratulations to them for winning it.
The Time magazine recognition as "Person of the Year" formerly "Man of the Year" is awarded to the most consequential person, it's not awarded as a recognition of merit. These are some others named Man of the Year by the magazine. By the way this young woman was named Person of the Year by Time Magazine. Do you think that she deserved it and it's also my guess is that it probably drove climate change denying conservatives batshit crazy.
Per Time criteria, I would agree with the op, he deserves it. from their site on the selection…. “For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months. In many years, that choice is a difficult one. In 2024, it was not.” …..and the pic they used on their web site, which imo is a statement.
And here is the 2,800 word fact check that Time needed to do to address the many lies and fabrications told by Trump during their interview with him. Fact-Checking Trump’s 2024 Person of the Year Interview
Discusses how they chose it. “All afternoon, Trump pipes music throughout the 1927 oceanfront estate from a 2,000-song playlist he curates: Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All,” James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.” Why Donald Trump Is TIME's 2024 Person of the Year
No surprise the first fact-check is a lie. I'll look no further: "The Facts: Trump was referring to how the undocumented population has grown under President Biden. There are an estimated 11.7 million undocumented immigrants in the United States as of July 2023." They've been saying there are 11 million illegals here for going on 2 decades. It's just a made up number. A Yale-MIT study in 2018 said the number was roughly 16.5-29 million illegals here. Three years later Biden starts letting in 10 million plus and we still have just 11.7 illegals here according to "fact-checkers?" Sure. Could be 40 million for all we know: https://thehill.com/latino/407848-y...not-11-million-undocumented-immigrants-in-us/
It took me a couple of edits but I finally got the right picture. Excuse me for deleting the first 2 attempts.
Not that I'm aware of. That would be like you touting 227,000 new jobs in November while ignoring the 355,000 decrease in total employment.
