Jack Plyburn Outlandish Demands

It's the way of the world, he's Gen Z and believe me Gen Zs every where are like this. Trust me, they are. He's good, but not that good. He will disappear under A&M's roster and will transfer next year to UCF.

If it’s true I am totally surprised. Doesn’t seem like the type to me.
Seems odd, what coach in his right mind would agree to such guarantees.

If this is all true, then it's seems really weird to me. What I gathered watching his play/actions on the field told me the exact opposite type of attitude. Guess you never know...

 

Me either. In one of those locker room videos about the journey, Pyburn was riveted to what Coach was saying. 100+% bought in. Played with passion, celebrated with his teammates. Leader on defense. All Gator. To me this is coming out of left field.

 

Unfortunately, that's just not how it works anymore with NIL. Make no mistake about it, college football is business and each team has a salary cap in terms of a limited NIL budget. Maybe Jack gets that money with another team but UF has up and coming players being paid and it's not to sit on the bench.

Yesterday, South Carolina upped their freshman edge Dylan Stewart to over $1M per year. It's a money game now.

 

Maybe he complete temporary insanity. It's understandable for your head to get that Big, but maybe he will come back down to earth.

 

Perhaps his head got a little too big and it crushed his ego when he was told what reality is.

 

That is a terrible article. Not even grammatically correct in places. And why all the rehash over how coaches can transfer and players had to sit out? Who takes the physical risk? This isn’t about justifying NIL or the portal — that ship sailed a year + ago. I wanted to know about Pyburn. Sports Illustrated is a rag compared to what it used to be.

 

And to be more clear with regards to the allegations of:

45k per month
- guaranteed starting position at OLB
- guaranteed to play on 3rd downs
- more snaps in the rotation

I don't have any issue with trying to negotiate more money... it's the world we live in now. And I definitely don't mind negotiating more playing time; hell, that's been going on forever.

It's the middle two I'm talking about: Guarantees... That's where I draw the line. If I were the coach and a player asked me the above, I would ask them if they could "guarantee" that the would get at least one sack and 2 TFL's and per game. Then see what they say...

Still, this is only what is alleged to have been said, so we don't know for certain... but still... SMH.

 

Apparently Bateman at A&M has been tampering with Pyburn and putting crazy thoughts in his head.

 

I hope Billy takes one more crack at him before he walks out the door.

I find it very interesting that he is the only guy (Gator football player, this year) on the team that has his "demands" plastered all over the internet.

I agree, this post seems to be more than likely half hit-piece and half BS...

 

The demands have to have some insight behind them. NO way he is just tossing numbers around. Likely another school has already made some offer or given ideas and he is just playing the game. Honestly I cannot imagine we are that far off on the money side between rev share and NIL, im sure he can get paid by us.

But these "guarantees" are what's wrong. Where else can he go that will give him a big paycheck, and guarantee a starting spot? At some point he has to earn it.

I think that is why you see guys like Quinn Ewers and DJ Ugi at FSU playing so much. I think the NIL agreement is forcing some of these guys to play as much as they do.

 

My posts from his IG story were deleted by the moderators, but his breakup lyrics post were incredibly weak. That was before his demands were released. Perhaps that played a role in his demands being released, because basically the message he was communicating was that UF was selfish and betrayers of his trust.

With that kind of shot at the team and university perhaps someone probably thought it was a good idea to counter punch with his demands.
