Kind of a must win bowl game for Billy to keep the positive momentum of the program going...he really can't lose to a Tulane team that won't have it's starting QB and UF is a double digit favorite.
After the last four years I feel the right perspective is to be glad we have a bowl at all. It's definitely an opportunity for recruting, getting a win to be 8-5 with momentum for the next season. Seriously thinking about going to the game with my daughter since its only a drive from Jacksonville for us. Really want to wait 'til the end of the week to make sure Lagway and most of the other regulars will be playing with no significant opt outs.
Yes you are. I remember Tulane in the SEC too northgagator. In fact. My first Gator game was 1958 when I was 13 years old. We beat Tulane 34-14 in that game. In fact, my avatar is a picture of two of our 4 tickets to that game. Don Deal made a long TD run down the east sideline for us. As you can see on the photo, tickets were $4.00 each.
Thanks for your reply. It made feel that I am not the only old fart who goes back to the Tulane days. It also made realize that I am not the oldest old fart on the forum. You got me 7 years. God bless you!
I know we all wanted a better bowl with a more intriguing matchup but I look at this as a bonus for many reasons already discussed, the main one being that any bowl didn't look achievable until some great late season wins! Now we get to discuss what their 2nd string QB may do, whether we can run the ball down their throat like Army, etc as well as getting some indication of who is returning and who is leaving before an early bowl, I have a positive outlook! (for now)
win or lose I think we will be ranked 15-25 in the “not too early rankings” for next season once bowls are over.
bowl games (and playoffs games) do not count against games played for redshirts. A player can play up to 4 regular season games and be redshirted and then a bowl game and/or playoff games and still redshirt. Not sure if that helps to answer the questions
I get it. I’m questioning the year. I don’t think a true freshman that enrolls in December can play in the bowl game.
If you are talking about the new signees/early entrants…like Vernell Brown…You are correct on that. They can practice. Cannot play.
Should bowls games be moved to spring? Build it around spring practice, and spring breaks. This would be all teams not in playoffs. With players opting out, transfer portal, leaving for draft, spring would get more eyes. I’d love to see an early enrollee play in bowl spring game against another team instead of inter squad game.
Good, it's been a while since Florida has ended their season on a good note and I hope DJ lets everyone know we comin' next year
In my little corner of the world, he's been cooling his heels, you know where for a while now. Can't say that I've missed him even a little bit.
