despicable - heads should roll IG finds Justice Department spied on Patel and other congressional staffer without telling courts
Someone was leaking classified information. The FBI looked for leaks. Seems like something they would do/should do when notified of the leak. "The department initiated the probe to investigate leaks to the media of FBI classified information as part of the now-discredited Trump-Russia probe which had recently been shared with Congress."
There are going to be so many media leaks in the Patel FBI and Bondi DOJ, I'm gonna guess they aren't going to be "cool, go ahead"
Maybe this story will make it a little clearer: Trump's DOJ secretly obtained phone and text message logs of 43 congressional staffers and 2 members of Congress
Anyone who would possibly allow something like this to happen should never even sniff elected office again, for as long as they live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! * * Unless they tell me it's OK to be really really angry at people who don't look like me coming to our country, and that my opinion is super important and valid even if I don't ever read anything.
How does this change anything regarding the OP? Patel sued Wray and the DOJ two years ago over this. If you'll remember, Bill Barr wasn't exactly loyal to President Trump. Patel's beef is clearly reasonable. Not sure what point you're attempting to make and not confident you know yourself.
You're correct Bill Barr wasn't exactly loyal to then President Trump. He thought that loyalty to the country took precedence over loyalty to the president. Trump is ensuring that will not happen in his second term in which loyalty to him is one overriding factor in the selection of every one of his nominees and appointees and/or in the military or civilian chain of command.
