Lol, he's from 2023. He didn't suit up this year.

I remeber him fom last year. He was consdered a good get for a walk-on. I think he had some 3* ratings.

If Lyons hadn't gotten hurt, I don't know that we are even following what McClellan is doing. He did great, but I'm not sure I'm giving him minutes over Jackson and Banks. I never saw APR doing in the SEC what he is doing in the ACC, and I'm skeptical he would look better than Sapp or Gumbs. I'm happy they found a good landing spot for themselves. I would be much more concerned if we didn't keep getting guys like Boireau and Robinson who look like they are SEC ready day one.

APR absolutely came on for us when here and had to be held multiple times against fsu. His name was always being called his last year here. Mclellan flashed often as a freshman and I don't know why he soured but cam Jackson has been pretty inconsistent although I love that he's playing in the bowl game and don't want to disparage him. We could have used mclellan this year. None of that matters anymore and I'm willing to move on.

I am curious if banks staying and Lyons returning could cause a change of heart with kelby and return him to the outside but that is probably wishful thinking.

I wish him the best staying or leaving. I just didn't see the size to compete inside against the massive dudes we have there. He needed to stay outside and become a Sapp clone. APR looked slow to me in many of his appearances that last year, and it might not have been about pure foot speed. I think our scheme made our edge guys conflicted having to vary so often from rushing to bailing out while needing to be solid in the run game. I think his head was swimming. Meanwhile a veteran guy with less innate talent in Sapp becomes so valuable to us. I think APR should have stuck it out and would have done well this year, but that room was overloaded.

APR was going to be behind Princely in 2023 - he was told that by the coaches. He wanted a chance to start so left. Probably also helped him decide to go that he had no tie to the Napier staff as he was recruited to UF by the prior staff.

There’s been some tough attrition at edge. Part of the process with a coaching change and limited success. With that said, I’m sure no one has an issue with how edge stacks up today, right?

I would say it’s the most complete position on the roster, and for those that love recruiting stars, no position has more highly rated recruits. It’s the big reason for the attrition at the bottom of the depth chart. UF has three Jr. performers, three underclassmen performers and two bluechip signees. That’s textbook position building.

LSS, if this 8-man group is here and healthy come 8/30/25, UFs edge room has a shot at being the best edge/DE group in the country in 2025.

Wonder what that's all about. Kinda the emotional leader of our defense. Perhaps it is a crowded position and he could get passed but damn.

Just a hypothesis - we have a certain amount of money to be spent on player groups. Banks was probably a big buy, and likely others. Perhaps Jack felt like he was not offered a deal he earned and so he is looking around?

Guy is unlikely to make an NFL roster, or if he does, my guess is it would be a journeyman career. Cannot blame him for looking for top dollar while he can.

Of course, as a fan it is a let down. Seemed to be an emotional leader, high motor guy that you love to have. People refer to the NFL as “Not For Long”, and that’s sounds appropriate here. No blame if the above hypothesis is true - kid wants life altering money (as would most all of us) and his employer said no.

Admittedly he could have met a girl at another school and all the above could be wrong.
