Yep, this is what's happening with this years transfers. The last couple years UF lost projected starters. So far this year it's just been guys who've been passed on the depth chart, deep depth guys and Walk-ons. The only semi surprise is Jackson. Top recruit from 2023, but his path to PT would have been harder next year, too.
The only starters we really lost were Princely last year and White the year before. Princely seems to be no more of a team player this year than he was last, so his loss doesn’t bother me. White never played another down of football, so he wasn’t really a loss either. We’ve had some other guys that left and found success elsewhere, but can’t really think of any others that were starters or looked to be earning more reps. Most of the guys that left were losing snaps.
Etienne and McClellan were tough losses this year. The youg guys got to play at RB and DT, so that's helpful moving forward. Ended up not missing Etienne. McCellan would have been nice early in the year after adjusting to the loss of Lyons. Ended up OK. Losing White, Baun and Trautwine (SP) hurt 2023's OL. Recovered nicely this year. I'm looking forward to a consistent high quality OL moving foraward. Looks good now, but can't lose anyone else to the portal or the draft. Any more attrition would need to be replaced by equal quality from the portal.
Really, only Hansen played more and had more sure hands. Wish he would have taken it as a challenge and competed instead of bolting. Bet he ends up at USC.
At the beginning of the season, he got the lions share of the reps, so he acquired a lot of snaps over the course of the season. I can’t find the numbers all in one place and don’t feel like looking up the individual games, but look at his snaps the last half of the season if you can find them. I think you’ll see a downward trend and some new names on an upward trend.
When Livingston was healthy he was taking the snaps.....and Amir will likely be better than either one of them.
This was the #1 roster recruiting priority, imo. Great start. Next priority are the five (5!) RJR OL. Need Barber and Manuel to stay, or they would need to be replaced from the portal. Slaughter staying woud be big. I think there's in-house options, but returning the All SEC OC would be huge. George and/or Waites (strictly an OG now) staying would be nice. There's a lot of young OG talent looking to play, but having atleast one Sr. OG would be benificial.
Braun is portalizing out of Arkansas for his last year, would have been a great keep but good luck to him.
Does he have another year left? I guess he didn't play a lot his last year at UF and could have redshirted. Interesting. 2025 will be the last year for the extra year of eligability for covid.
