Both statements are true. Walsh is a great hitter, maybe the best DP in the country. But she's not a great defender, IMO. I'm just hoping, like most of us, that AK not being on the offical roster anymore is some sort of glitch, esepcially since her Instagram page still shows her as a Gator
Is there anything more indicative than the official roster? If AK is no longer with UF, AK can comment, but UF cannot.
Until we know for sure, we don't really know. But, yeah the roster thing is pretty indicative. I'm still holding out hope, as she's a super player that I reaaly like and her leaving will create a void on the team. If gone, I'm pretty sure we'll be OK at 3rd, but 2nd catcher is critical and Ariel's hitting would be sorely missed.
Just listened to it, no mention of AK47. High praise for Kenleigh Cahalan at 3rd and backup at catcher (If I heard right). Good interview. Very informative about culture and how he goes after talent, no necessarily position.
It was a good podcast, I enjoyed it. There was no mention of AK47, but he did say 20 players. He did emphasize versatility; meaning players may need play whatever position they may have to play to get in the lineup. If AK leaves, someone may have to step up and play a new position for the good of the team.
Congratulations to Rylee Holtorf. She recently became Rylee Holtorf Burgarello. I wonder what name she will put on the back of her jersey. Kudos to her. In the last six months she has graduated from Washington, gotten married, moved scross the country, changed schools and now plays softball (which in itself is almost a full time job) for the Gators.
From the pod cast, Reagan will play some at first and Keegan will be batting. Assuming that when Ava pitches, Reagan will be at first. So who will be DP and who will she bat for? If Ava plays first when Keegan pitches, both batting, same question. If Mia’s batting improves and Kenleigh and Rylee perform as expected, there could actually be games with no DP is needed. Ain’t this a wonderful problem?
Now you`re confusing me....the hand wringing and sleepless nights having to deal with so much talent and so few available positions to place them.
To RICKJS1 and other members who pumped up Taylor Shoemaker before she arrived on campus, CONGRADS. CTW, in the podcast, indicated she is the real thing. BTY we need Rick and his insight back posting.
Does anyone know if Red will play this spring? In some of the photos from the orange v blue series, if you look closely you can tell she is not dressed in practice uni and has a big brace around her leg. Just wondering cause Walton did not say anything in the Out of the Box podcast. He mostly just talked about Keagan and Ava.
I hope she plays this year. I have a feeling she is going to become one of the great UF softball pitchers. It won't be the end of the world if she doesn't play this year for this team is so loaded they can win with a pitching staff comprised of Ocala, Scrappy, UF, and ET.
