Who would be the consensus starter at SS? Wondering about the possibility of that person moving th 3rd and making a run at the Minnesota transfer. Would she be eligible immediately if transferred out of conference? Also, would AK, or anyone for that matter, transferring this late have to sit a year or are those days gone? Rules change so often hard to keep track
From what I've read and heard, Holtorff will be our shortstop. I don't know the answer to the other questions.
Free agency killed my desire to watch pro baseball and basketball and severely wounded viewing pro football. Stupid NCAA transfer rules and NIL has taken a bite out of my enthusiasm for even Gators football. If AK47 is leaving for $, it will be the first transfer out that will be a real loss due to NIL. I sure hope the number of transfers can be controlled or we risk continuity and it’s no fun to have to face the players you watched as grow up as Gators.
This looks more likely to be related to being closer to her boyfriend and closer to home. That’s not to say she won’t be getting a check too, but that doesn’t appear to be the biggest factor. At least not if she ends up at TAMU.
I was worried about this with the influx of infielders and her BF being at A&M. She is one of my favorite players. What she did last season as a true freshman was amazing. She was a rock at the hot corner. Hope she is still a Gator. Can we pony up some money and get her BF to transfer to UF?
CTW and Francesca are still following her. She is going through finals and maybe they are giving her time to think about what she is about to do.
There's still been no posts from the outlets that always posts transfers that she is in the portal. Makes you wonder.
This honors CTW. I’m sorry it’s social media. 39 реакций · 3 комментария | Deserved is an understatement. A true Gator legend and one of the best of all time. Congratulations, Coach Walton, on your well-deserved induction into... | By Florida Gators Softball | Facebook
Can anyone explain why injuries and transactions are so top secret. It seems the only news we get is puff and fluff, and that’s infrequent and late.
It's the Florida Softball way. There is no other explanation. We just have to go with it and be alumni and fans.
Who "on the roster" can play backup catcher? I didn't follow fall ball, but I'm sure we have several somebodies to play 3rd and hit with average. As a follow up, is it too late to bring in a catcher?
Kenleigh Cahalan will probably get first shot at 3rd base IF AK really is leaving. Also, freshman Layla Lamar is a corner infielder. Alyssa Hovermale played 3rd most of her career and it was originally thought she would win the job last year, but she got beaten out by Kowalewski. Have no idea about anybody on the current roster backing up Erickson. That's not a position you can just throw somebody in there and I don't recall reading about anybody on our roster other than Kowalewski who ever played catcher. Hope I'm wrong. As for transfers, from what I understand a grad transfer can come in this month and be eligible to play right away. But if it turns out that Ariel can transfer somewhere else and not have to sit out the 2025 season, then we have to assume we can get a player to come in this month and play as well. The transfer rules are changing so fast I can't keep up. Of course, I'm truly hoping that all the Kowalwski rumors are wrong and she'll be staying in Gainesville because she's an excellent, dedicated softball player.
Reagan Walsh plays 3rd. Guess really looking for backup catcher. AK has been removed from the roster.
