Tremendous young man!! Here IS the thing... Great players (especially quarterbacks) will go to various schools and play. The fans of those schools and universities cheer on their players as most would do. The DIFFERENCE at being at the University of Florida is that Florida LOVES its quarterbacks! Just LOVES them! Whether you are Steve Spurrier, John Reaves, Wayne Peace, Danny Wuerffel, Tim Tebow... Doug Johnson, Rex Grossman, etc... they all love you. Even Larry Ochab..."Dr. O"... #13... they are all loved by the fans of Florida Football at a different level than at other schools. We got the statues of THREE Heisman Winners outside of BHG to prove it! Bottom line... at the University of Florida... when it comes to our quarterbacks... it is just different. Let's hope that Lagway can see this and is deeply affected by this rare air of fandom love and loyalty. I believe he will. (P.S. I know that I have left out a LOT of names of our quarterbacks from the past. Feel free to add to the list.)
Adding some more who were loved for their play (at least at some point by most). Kerwin Bell Shane Matthews "Touchdown" Terry Dean Jesse Palmer Noah Brindise Chris Leak Kyle Trask Anthony Richardson Felipe Franks "Crazy Legs Hirsch" My name for him when he ran. Some were studs, some had flashes, but they made some plays for the good guys along with the guys that were previously mentioned. GO GATORS!!!!
I would like to extend a huge thank you and Congratulations to D.J. Lagway FOR this brilliant accomplishment. Like others have said, it's just one of many more to come. Gator Nation loves you, man.
Clyde Crabtree, Haywood Sullivan, Harmon Wages, Larry Rentz, Don Gafney, Jimmy Fisher, Kay Stephenson, Jack Eckdahl, Bob Hewko...et al...
DJ is an outstanding player and human being already. Imagine once he really gets going... I'm excited for next year. The team has finally settled in. The teamwork-family concept has manifested itself rather nicely. If we can snag some key receivers and a few other studs from the portal we should be in good shape to make a serious run next year. It is my hope there will be another Heisman bronze statue added to the Heavener complex... The big play offense that has emerged, the aggressive defensive performances; the future looks very promising. Go Gators.
Not to mention... 1 Chris Leak...............11213 2 Danny Wuerffel .......10875 3 Shane Matthews .......9287 4 Tim Tebow................9285 5 Rex Grossman ..........9164 6 Kerwin Bell................7585 7 John Reaves ..............7549 8 Kyle Trask..................7386 9 Wayne Peace .............7206 10 Doug Johnson...........7114
Not to change the subject. I'm sure it's been said before, but can you imagine Kerwin in Spurrier's offense? Oh my!!
