What circumstances? That his people in various agencies are waiting to be charged with crimes that they did indeed commit while he was POTUS? Or... is it just that the Dems are projecting that Trump will go after them FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
Nixon's pardon was never challenged. It serves as precedent in so far as it's been attempted before; it does not serve as *binding precedent* in terms of stare decisis since it's never been challenged, placed under judicial scrutiny, and thereby placed in court's hands to interpret. Doh! Biden gonna put blanket, carte Blanche, hypothetical, preemptive pardons right on the chopping block for the the SCOTUS to cut the fat and trim down to size... God bless the SCOTUS! (...and Doh! Biden!).
I find it hilarious that Joe Biden finds it necessary to pardon apparently everyone except Donald Trump, the man whose prosecution helped foster a correct perception of corruption and partisanship within the DOJ. He was even willing to pardon his son, even though doing so fosters a perception of corrupt use of the pardon power. I don’t think Democrats are mad that he’s doing this, they’re mad that about the lack of subtlety. They know this is going to come back to haunt them, they’re right. And they have nobody to blame but themselves. They made their beds now they can lie in it.
So pardoning family members is an example of a corrupt use of the pardon power, right? Or are we going to get the usual shifting explanation for why it was this time, but not when Trump did it. All so that you can explain away Trump's future attempts to do what he has already done with something to make you feel better.
Nah. I hope Joe pardons everyone for everything. Then we can all be on the same level playing field with Charles Kushner, Joe Arpaio, Dinesh D'Souza, Mike Flynn and Roger Stone.
This. Doh! Biden had a golden opportunity to extend an olive branch and at the very least, project an image of attempting to achieve some sort of national unity--you know--the bill of goods he was sold to the US for... Instead, he's calling for more blood shed--on behalf of the Chicom puppet party: "It's just a flesh wound!" His first, last, and only patriotic move of his life! Let's go Doh!
He's good for the next four years given the SCOTUS decision declaring that the King is above the law as well as the fact that he will soon control the DOJ although I wouldn't put it past him to do so on his way out at the end of his term.
Even if Biden decided to do so the act would be meaningless considering that Trump's acceptance of a pardon would be an admission of guilt and according the Donald as well as his supporters he never did anything wrong.
If the evil people trying to get him haven't been able to up until now, why would he need to because he hasn't done anything for which he would need a pardon. Saying he 'was convicted of over 90 felonies' is the most asinine statement and only truly moronic people believe that.
Considering that the Supreme Court cloaked him sovereign immunity (in the historic sense of the term i.e. the King can do no wrong) and he controls the DOJ of course he didn't do anything that would require a pardon.
There have been a few instances of “preemptive pardons” of people who haven’t actually been charged, but I’m not sure any of them have ever been tested judicially. Most prominent ones are Lincoln and Johnson’s blanket pardons of former Confederate soldiers and officials, Carter’s blanket pardon of Vietnam draft dodgers, and as mentioned the Nixon pardon.
