Reintroducing a predator capable of killing humans would be opposed by a huge swath of society. I have some experience here.
I’m really skeptical how successful a “de-extinction” could be when entire habitats that once supported megafauna simply don’t exist anymore. There was a proposal (and crowd fund?) to do this in Siberia, in small scale, but would that be enough to support a viable population? Eeeeeeh.. I don't think they were worried about wolves attacking people, it was the cattle ranchers losing livestock. Unless you're talking about werewolves, then all bets are off.
