Curious how Gus to fsu even transpired? Does Gus think he might replace Norvelllllllllll when they suck again next year and the fans demand he be fired?
I think Gus was on his way out at UCF, one way or another. There appears to be a trend now that former HCs realize they have a boatload of money and don't want to be a HC anymore (see Chip Kelly). These coaches can make good bank as a coordinator without all the headaches.
I don’t understand this at all. Did FSU pay this? How does this make any sense unless he has been promised the head coach job at FSU?
When I first heard that Gus had "resigned", I thought he had just walked away from whatever buyout he had. Then I thought he and UCF had negotiated a reduction in his buyout, so he could say he "resigned". I still think it is the latter. I don't believe for one second that Gus paid UCF anything.
Similar to Chip Kelly, at this stage he was just tired of being a HC, imho. It’s a massive daily grind and he’s made plenty of $$$$ over his career. Now maybe he just wants to call ball plays. But why at clown college??
Part of me wonders if he violated some sort of morality clause and they were going to use that as leverage to fire him and not pay him his buyout. Then when confronted with this he chose to resign instead of it being made public.
Gus probably also thinks Norvell is a dead man walking and he can take over since F$U won't have the money for a splash hire.
