The Dems didn't pass this law or the many other censorship laws Florida has passed in recent years. The Democrats, like the Republicans, do engage in censorship. But Florida's problem with censorship is overwhelmingly coming from one side of the aisle. And I see the self-proclaimed conservatives cheering it on. So you can spare me the tu quoque fallacies.

I am not trying to discredit you at all. You seem to have a great deal of knowledge. Just thought it interesting that you said c'mon man and wondered if that was why

I gave him a c'mon man because he implied that we shouldn't care. Even if this was just FSU, I'd care. Because the people who go to school there and work there deserve to have their rights to free speech, inquiry, and debate honored. But this is a much broader issue than just FSU. It's happening at every public university and college in the state. That includes UF.

accreditation not my area of expertise but I expect you would be correct. They’d probably have to modify or create a new rule. I doubt complete elimination is an option. And our students already can’t write for shit - we should have them writing more not less. Thank god for Ai lol - essays are so much better now

Talk about being an elitist, a degree from a Top 25 Public University is worthless.

The inability of grown adults from good schools to be able to write well is shocking.

I remember the course everyone referred to as "rocks for jocks", when I was in school.

You didnt even really have to read anything but the class notes guides they put out for people who didnt want to read the books. And the tests were the same for like 20 years or something because the professor was ancient, so if you had a test prep "study aid", you were good.

I am not sticking up for FSU sports but their academics are pretty solid. We make fun of them but FSU is top tier in Florida.

Hate to say it, but there's bad news . . . . allow me to tell you about this little thing called ChatGPT. I have real concerns that it will diminish communication and critical thinking skills.

I've experienced the same with grad students at UF and my current institution. Writing skills are awful. I blame standardized testing, which encouraged teacher-proof formulaic writing. Many of the students couldn't even pull that off.
