CNN — The Big Ten Conference has fined Michigan and Ohio State $100k each for their involvement in Saturday’s postgame brawl, the conference announced.
Give it a rest. We get it, you're not a fan of Napier. That doesn't mean we need to look at everything regarding this program through a negative lens. The fact is you need to make an effort to be pessimistic about this team now compared to where we were to start the season. That goes for on-field results, eye test, recruiting, you name it. Nobody's saying Billy has us at a Gator standard right now. But maybe given the improvement we've seen, we should give him a chance considering no coach has met that standard in 15 years, it would cost a left nut to fire him, and there is no heir apparent waiting in the wings that is a sure fire thing. Everyone, including me, seemed to think Kiffin was the closest thing to that and Billy BEAT a very solid Kiffin team this year.
Dude, I’m not convinced that Billy is the answer yet either. But this is the best football we have seen from our Gators in years. Let’s take a minute to appreciate it.
Stop feeding the troll. He's a Gator troll, but trolling y'all nonetheless. He's like a broken clock; Never really accurate, but is right twice a day. He is locked into his confirmation bias so heavily he'll never change. This is an opinion board and his are as meritorious as anyone else's. Engaging the rhetoric only prompts the position to deepen, harden.
I was not commenting on Napier or the Gators. I was astonished at the ramifications of a melee following a college football game.
There's been some history of melees in the Big 10 and they're apparently trying to put a stop to it. Common denominator seems to be U-M. 2018 U-M vs MSU pregame skirmish with MSU players doing their pre-game walk on the field, arms locked, through Michigan players. Michigan LB Devin Bush then proceeded to tear up the MSU logo with his cleats. 2022 U-M vs MSU post game tunnel fight.
I agree. In addition, posters who troll our threads will now be thread-banned, at least. Please call either my or Bill's attention to it so we can see and respond faster.. Between us we read almost every post on Swamp Gas anyway.
In addition there was pepper spray used to break up the fight. First time I have heard of that used in a football field to break up a fight. Let's be accurate it wasn't a melee, it was a fight.
Exactly, we knew we were better than the Noles, and we did not need to rub that FACT in by flagging their Seminole emblem at midfield.
There are many things I don't NEED to do but that I do anyway because they give me perverse satisfaction. Enraging those people is one of them.
This holier than thou bullshit has had a large hand in bringing us 15 years of mediocrity in football. A fight after a violent, intense rivalry game?? That’s terrible, we can NEVER let that happen again!!!! You take the good with the bad. No one wants to play or coach for an organization that actively criticizes the way one successfully does what they are paid to do.
