I'd be disappointed if he didn't pardon Hunter.

Trump and his voters have made clear that crime is OK now, and ethics don't matter. Trump has brought a new era to American politics of criminality and a total absence of ethics. I'm glad that Biden is playing by the new rules.

Agree. Individuals who file past due tax returns and voluntarily pay all of their back taxes plus interest and penalties are very seldom prosecuted for criminal tax evasion. Similarly lying on a federal firearms form is also very seldom prosecuted as a standalone crime. Also keep in mind that the government originally agreed to a plea bargain with Hunter before backing off.
'Rip it up': Inside the dramatic unraveling of Hunter Biden's plea deal - ABC News
Although technically the plea bargain was rejected by a judge, a Trump appointee by the way, David Weiss the US Attorney/Special Counsel one of the few Trump appointees held over by Biden never tried to cure the defects in the original agreement.

Hunter deserved some jail time for his many transgressions. And Biden deserves plenty of criticism for pardoning him after repeatedly saying he wouldn't. Disappointing all around.

Just a typical lying democrat. What’s worse is democrats justifying it while trying to crucify Trump. The fall of this great nation is on display in this thread.

I thought you were saying the whole process of presidential pardons was wrong. You seemed to be just talking about the Hunter pardon is wrong.

And the leader of the Trump crime family was rewarded with reelection.

People just leaning in to the plutocracy fully in both parties now I see. It is what it is. I’m sure pubs are outraged but it seems kinda like a silly thing to be upset about considering who we just voted into office. Like… why does this even matter given then general direction of our country?

Our process of presidential pardons needs more guardrails. It is not inherently a bad thing. It can become deeply problematic when it is used in corrupt ways.

New rules? It's called the clinton playbook.

Watching you and your fellow liberal mob goose step to your false virtue is amazing. It's like the universe... infinite

I was going to post something similar but I wasn’t sure on the dates and the facts.

After what Gym Jordan and Comer Pyle did and tried to do to his family, I would have invited them to the signing.

I respect your thoughts and agree. But the reality is that hope and reality are two far different things, and we live in a world of reality.

So if your son were an addict and had issues and demons, and committed the crimes Hunter was charged with, you’d let him serve a prison sentence? Personally, I wouldn’t feel good about myself if I did that to my son.

Do you honestly not see how Trump introduced massive criminality into modern American politics.......and that his voters clearly didn't care a bit about that?

Can you honestly view that and not expect opposition voters' outrage to not excuse the same from their leaders, should it happen?

This is the true legacy of Trump. Not any of the advocated policies that he fails to implement. He implemented criminality and a massive increase in the absence of ethics.

Anyone that voted for Trump has to take some responsibility for that.

Indeed. I remember well how Clinton criminally tried to overturn an election. I also remember how he enacted a criminal conspiracy to not peacefully transfer power.

This thread is going as expected. The lines on these issues are always the same.

Until a majority of Americans get sick and tired of being sick and tired, they will always play DaddyBall within their own party.

I'd do everything I can to help my son beat his addiction, get his life on the right track, and help him obtain a good defense. But if he committed those crimes, he should face the same consequences as anybody else. This goes back to my point about this country not having a "justice" system or anything approaching "equal justice" under the law. Wealth, power, and privilege allow some people to be above the law. I find that to be unacceptable. But most of my fellow Americans appear not to care.

I have a lot of empathy for Biden after losing his wife and daughter in a car wreck and then his other son to cancer. I don't blame the President one bit for pardoning his remaining child from his first marriage. I wish everyone in the country would feel the same way.
