Disagree. The coaches are adults and they should act like it no matter what. They're supposed to set an example.
Their mascot plants a spear at midfield before every home game. It used to be (I guess he still does it) that the Florida game was the only game where he would get off the horse to plant the spear. Anyway, that's why Napier told Norvell about the flag, "They 're just horsing around."
Flag planting is going away real quick; the league is going to see to it. It's going to cost a team/school big time going forward. It's bush league to act that way no matter what the other team has done. Don't stoop to their level. Go Gators!
My memory is hazy now but I recall a hold or block in the back on I think Sapp on the play we ultimately got the penalty for I think Pyburn on the late hit on the QB slide that wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it first looked.
The flag planting had everything to do with: 1. FSUs actions in our home field 2. A hard fought defense dominated win in which, it seemed, many players got to play. 3. Closing the season with a rivalry win. For some their first win over a highly disliked rival that had a historic track record of rubbing our faces in a loss on our home field. The swindle, the hits to an echo of the whistle, the choke, the Gator head, the sod cutting. Dancing in our logo. Our players know the history. Somehow a flag planting seems pretty tame. I am surprised that someone hadn’t brought up the cigar smoking outside their locker room. Did that hurt feelings also? The NCAA needs to worry about the field storming. Fines are not the answer. Donors just pay them. Far more dangerous.
I don't blame the kids for doing it and I get the payback angle and the emotions involved, the leagues are probably going to ban this thing before it gets out of hand, at least there was no pepper spray involved! It just amazes me how it has dominated post game discussion after a great rivalry win and I guess I am now guitly!
Nope but they have dug up grass when they beat us. I wonder if the Seminole tribe will take away their liking of the mascot if they keep stinking up the place.
FSU needs to stop digging up pieces of our field and then we may alter our behavior. It’s funny to me FSU has always started some crap then whines about it after we stomp them and do something they deserve. As far as I know, after we play UT, Ga, LSU, etc, both teams meet and shake hands, talk, whatever, their is mutual respect where there is zero respect for FSU.
Norvell can dish it out, but can't take it...He walks off our field doing the Gator Chomp after winning last year and he's a head coach not a player, but he obviously can't take it when the roles are reversed...What a wuss.
I/We have been ordered to allow all "discussions" this season. I am trying to "limit" certain discussions by certain trolls, err, um, posters . . . but our hands are tied for now.
