Pre-Game Discussion: FSU week!!!

Unfortunately I'm old and I attended the Gators first loss to the Noles in 1967 16-7. What a nightmare. As I remember, their stadium held about 25k and it was sort of similar to the stadium used in The Longest Yard. Hopefully the results will be much better today.

 

I attended a game at FSU around 1960. I think they were playing Richmond. All I remember was that their QB was Eddie Feeley, and their HC was Perry Moss. And I remember one comment by a fan. A hefty lineman came off the bench and ran out to get in the huddle. He ran... and ran... and ran. Everyone just watched in silence, till a guy behind me said, "Look at that speed."

 

Does anyone else miss that Spurrier called them “The Semis?”

Very underrated Spurrier-ism IMO!

 

Going to really hurt when Baugh, Jackson and Montrell lower the boom.

 

I just wanted to chime in one last time today that I despise FSU. They disgust me. We CANNOT lose to this FSU team. Carry on.

 

I've noticed that Norvell always gives his team a halftime speech on the sideline, instead of heading first for the locker room, as soon as it's halftime. Does any other college head coach do that?

It's obviously effective.

Dress right for the cold and the team should be fine. At least it won't be windy and wet.

 

No wind makes a big difference. The players will feel good in the 1st half. The home team will be miserable in the 2nd half.

 

Gators should sail to an easy victory today, but it is a rivalry and FSU has to keep their end of the bargain at some point. The game makes me a little nervous because it's in Tally and we haven't played tremendously well on the road in the past few years. The rivalry part bothers me more than the fact it's a road game, as this FSU team is still pretty talented and if there is one game they actually get up for this year, it's probably this one. Standing by my 20-18 Gator win prediction, hoping it's a blow-out.

 

No, but they're just as damn annoying--just on general principles! They wouldn't even matter, except for Phil Knight's money!

Rivalry games thus far should tell everyone not to overlook the Noles.

 

I'll throw up if we play anything like georgia or ol miss. got to stomp the nulls and not let them up for the entire game! They deserve it always. GG!!!

one big thing missing when you start to compare stats - the SCHEDULE. We have had a FAR tougher schedule than FSU.

This just feels like a classic trap game. Gators coming off the high of a big win at home, hearing all week how they are on a roll, fans feeling an easy win, but on the road, where we have been anything but great for quite some time, and against a rival. This one smells. Just win.
